I have one question guys. Is it possible for plexconnect to also get the filenames of the subtitles which are assigned with the video? If so, is it possible to show the filenames instead the language, then at least in plexconnect we could have subtitles like “commentry” or other titles.
Asking since you guys seem to produce a way better plex client on the apple tv then the oficial one

Just installed plexconnect on the atv4, very nice app. Better then the official one.
But, how can i choose from different audio tracks?A nicer icon would be great too.

Hi, you might want to have a look at the first post in this thread, theres a list of features that have been implemented and others that are still to do.

hmm… brings up the question regarding why the use of plexconnect has been allowed. Maybe special written permission? If it can’t be used going forward (bummer) then I would consider either:
‘Flexconnect’ or Flixconnect’ from the makers of plexconnect, and works with your existing Plex Media Server
BTW: baa, sign me up to be the first purchaser once the app is approved!
The name PlexConnect has never been approved. I guess it came to live long before Plex Inc. tried to reinforce their branding. I guess they (the officials) were somewhat cool about it, as it’s (my opinion been a well developed, working and supported client - I don’t think that they got to much negative press caused by us, right?
From my point of view it is somewhat different to rename a well-established app vs. to come up with another name for something new. As much as I like the name (and think it developed a positive sound over time) I don’t like the idea to knowingly work against those rules. In the end it is Plex Inc’s backend (server, myplex, …) that we are surfing on…
Overall I really like the fact that discussion is picking up in this thread! Special thanks go to Pecinko, as in my eyes his fresh UI is one major contributor to that. I guess I really have to start working on the next step - I will keep you posted!

Hi guys, what does the “external override” setting do?
“external override”: development setting to change template retrieval from aTV4 internal to a network request at 127.0.0.1:1844. This for sure doesn’t work on real hardware, but it’s great for template developing in the Simulator - no need to recompile that whole stuff after every minor change.
Needs a server running, eg. python -m SimpleHTTPServer 1844 from the directory your development templates are stored.
I do not have this loaded but I would prefer an option to have the theme be dark/black rather then light. I also like the fan art to be dimmed but not blurred. Is it possible to have these options in the app as it now stands?
Dark theme wouldn’t be an issue, I guess. Fanart for now is kind of a big question mark…

Yeah baby! Really would like to see plexconnect get turned into a full blown atv4 app. It has evolved into a full featured support of Plex over the years. I’ve gone back to the aTV3 just to use plexconnect because of all the issues surrounding the atv4 and available apps. BTW: one very important mod I do with plexconnect is to force the default in movies to be the folder view. Having that ability in an atv4 version is important to me
