plexWatch - Windows Branch

Okay, tiny bit more progress. The old db I want to use is from 0.2.8. I just moved it out of the folder and ran the exe to make a new one. Went back into the web settings and it is reporting 0.3.2 now. I tried moving the old db in to replace the new one and it switched back to reporting that it was version 0.2.8. and yes, I updated the config.pl with my user/pass, and also signed into plexwatchweb with my user/pass.

When its using the new db its giving me this "Failed to access plexWatch database. Please check your settings."    The new db is fuctioning

Thank you so much for being so patient with me!

I'd suggest to work through the install steps again (test section), just remember to use your .db.

Test the script:

* open a command prompt

* cd c:\plexWatch

* start a show

* run: plexWatch.exe

* stop the show

* run: plexWatch.exe

note: activity is live, it's not pulled from the DB

Using my db it reads it fine, i go into the settings it shows 0.2.8 and won't update the history. The only thing that seems to work with my db right now is showing current activity.

I didn't see anything when i used the command prompt

It may show nothing from the command line if all works, but it *should* have logged to the DB if you started a show.

You can try these steps.

  • disable all automated tasks
  • start a show
  • run: plexWatch.exe --watching

The above should show you are watching a show, if not.. try running the command below, and include the results.

plexWatch.exe --watching --debug --show_xml

Using my db it reads it fine, i go into the settings it shows 0.2.8 and won't update the history. The only thing that seems to work with my db right now is showing current activity.

I didn't see anything when i used the command prompt

'plexwatch.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. - that showed up after both commands.

It refuses to run the exe with the old db.

um, didn't you say it ran find with the tests I posted previously? Did you "cd c:\plexWatch" first? You should do that first, then try the steps I posted.

'plexwatch.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. - that showed up after both commands.

It refuses to run the exe with the old db.

I didn't get anything from the command prompt. The db/text document from 0.2.8 does not want anything to do with 0.3.2 exe, it just dies. I'm just gonna take the L here and start from scratch. Losing about 3 months worth of stats, I'll get over it.

We tried, Thanks again for all your help!

I just wanted to drop in and say Thank You!  I got this set up and its working flawlessly. https://twitter.com/SeansPlexServer

I was wondering if there was an easy way to change the tweet from "{user} Watching: ....." to "{user} #Watching ......"  I think this is something that needs to be modified in the .exe, right?

Glad it's working!

You can change watching to #watching in the config.pl

$push_titles = {
    'push_watched'        =>  'Watched',
    'push_watching'       =>  'Watching',
    'push_resumed'        =>  'Resumed',
    'push_paused'         =>  'Paused',
    'push_recentlyadded'  =>  'New',
};

Hi ljunkie,

Thank you for continuing to update and maintaining such a great add on feature for plex. if you have a moment I need some support if you wouldn't mind. Up until 9.11.4 plexwatch has been working flawlessly for me. I followed your instructions to update the .exe and added my user information for plex.tv. I am able to get a successful launch of plexwatch through the command prompt. However the scheduled task is not completing as it use to. From my understanding the failure is due to there already being another instance of this task running (2147750687). I am unsure why the previous instance will not exit or end. Could you please advice with recommendations on how to resolve this?

Thank you in advance,

Have you rebooted? It's possible the task is not completing now after the upgrade. If a reboot doesn't fix it then maybe try the following.

  • Disable the task in the task manager
  • open the command prompt
  • cd c:\plexWatch
  • run: plexWatch.exe --notify

Verify the above command completes without errors or locking up. You might also just try running the vbs script by double clicking it to verify it also runs without locking up, since the task manager should be calling it instead of the .exe.

Thanks for the prompt response. I thought I had rebooted but somehow I must have missed completing it after the install. Just completed the reboot and followed through with your advice of testing the vbs and exe. Everything appears to be operational again!

Can’t believe I missed something so simple...You’re a Rockstar! THANK YOU!

Thanks for this. Life saver.

Does pushbullet support multiple iden devices or only a single at this time? I was hoping to have it send notifications to my phone and chrome. Thanks!

Just leave the 'device' empty. Example:

'pushbullet' => {
        'enabled' => 1,
        'push_recentlyadded'  => 0,
        'push_watched'        => 1,
        'push_watching'       => 1,
        'push_paused'         => 0,
        'push_resumed'        => 0,
        'title'               => '{user}',
        'apikey'              => '', # Pushbullet API key https://www.pushbullet.com/account
	'device' => '', # https://api.pushbullet.com/api/devices put yor API key as username and password empty
    },

Deleted... Figured it out.. Thanks removing the device sent it to all devices.

Glad it’s working. As for the chrome issue, that would be something to ask push bullet support. I’m not experiencing that, but I’m using OSX.

Thanks. That did the trick. I noticed that when it sends to my chrome browser that instead of showing as a notification like all of my other pushbullet alerts that it actually opens a new tab in my browser… Is there a way to get send as a notification instead or is that the available api?

Hi ljunkie,

Just a quick question..

I have everything working with a task runnning the exe every minute. I use the $user_display array to change usernames to friendly names in config.pl. When I first set this up, I had 8 entries in this and everything worked fine with them displaying as expected in plexWatch.log and plexwatch/web. Recently, added 5 more, and they show up as expected in plexWatch.log.. but not plexwatch/web.. where all the old names are fine, but usernames are shown for the 5 new ones?

I appreciate you don't offer support on plexwatch/web.. but I understood that all that did was reference data from plexwatch? Could you give me an idea of where else to look, or what might be the issue if you know? I initially thought typo.. but it's working in plexWatch.log?

Finally, is there anywhere I can actually modify the data for any entries that are showing up as old usernames, so i don't have duplicated entries for username and friendly name.

I'll take this as another chance to thank you for your excellent work in providing a great tool.

Don't suppose anyone could post a working Windows config.pl file here? Been trying for hours with every combination of \ and \\ in path names and all I get when I run plexWatch.exe is "Unable to open script source: No such file or directory"

Problem is, I have no idea which script source it's referring to! The windows help file isn't very useful, as most of it isn't anything to do with the windows version!

I can run the vbs scripts and they generate the plexWatch.db file just fine, but plexwatch/web doesn't show anything in the history section etc. So I've got no idea if I'm only supposed to run the vbs scripts on windows and not the exe file directly. If any of you guys run this setup on windows and it works a config.php from plexwatch/web would be appreciated as well :)

Thanks!

All sorted now. It would seem that I was just running plexwatch from a command prompt. For some reason you have to actually specify the full filename, as in plexwatch.exe. No idea why really, but at least I've sorted it now!

Just for future reference for everyone else's benefit, here's my config files for plexWatch and plexWatch/web
