Interesting, I’m wondering if I should change the default back to mpeg2video.
Did you turn on enable Log FFMPEG to console on the FFMPEG tab? That fixed it for me, it buffers for a bit and after a while it just runs smoothly.
Outstanding. that stinkin did it. mpeg2video (and yes I did have logging enabled).
Where do I donate? No kidding, please don’t let this dev drop off. This thing works better than anything I could have imagined up to now in Plex.
5 Years of anguish and begging for this from Plex all culminated into this beautiful little 0.0.51 Alpha… can’t wait till its fully released. Way to go Dan.
I love this so much - I wish I could just drop an endless amount of stuff into a playlist but it looks like it only gets the first week or so worth of content. I like the schedule idea, but it would be cool if we could have an endless playlist that just loops as a channel.
Ditto Nathan… I agree … tons of ideas swirling around on this. Randomize tv series so I can do a 70’s sitcom channel, 80 sitcom channel etc and movies as well. Horror channel, drama, christmas all randomly playing.
When I build the playlist I know whats playing so it makes it fun for my wife and kids but I know whats going on, if it was random I would have a “oh, I wonder whats on tonight” moment.
Tons more ideas too, like JR86 said… my own music/MTV channel with random music videos. The possibilities for just my media library are incredible.
I already have a channel for all the ‘summer vacation’ episodes of shows, a Christmas episode channel, Classic Simpsons channel (season 2-10) and a MCU channel.
I made a giant adult swim channel and included 1600 of the bumpers that I found online.
The other thing I love doing is the channel logos. I spent like 2 hours creating logos as well.
1up, did you have to manually set all the stuff or did you find a way to randomize it?
I have this running under a docker container, is there a fix yet to stop the container from crashing/stopping after I exit out of a channel? I continuously need to keep restarting the container even when I just want to change from one channel to another.
I haven’t gotten too far yet in the setup, but I set up a few channels so far. I also stayed away from single show channels as to me that’s redundant and can just go into the library for those. I made 2 franchise channels but most are just genre channels. I’ll work on movie channels once the options improve. I’d rather watch movies in their original formats (audio/video).
Also, I put in a request to have PseudoTV natively added to Plex. Please upvote if you can.
Done Stryker. Good call… If I could vote a thousand times I would have.
Hey DEFENDORe, cheers to expecting an email from the Plex devs soon…
Excellent… on it now. Thanks 1Up
so i nuked the old install and started fresh. now plex wont see or connect to the tuner, when i finally got it to connect, it wont recognize the xml file. also, it didnt create the .pseudotv folder. any ideas? thanks.
I had that trouble with the earlier versions (and the ones that required npm) and so far all I can say is try a few/several times, restart and if it doesn’t work, for mine, I got into the database and removed all instances of tuners mentioning PseudoTV.
You want to make sure when adding that DVR that 127.0.0.1:8000 is the IP and port you’re using if youre running it on the same machine as plex. I have a post out here for editing the table directly in plex (unsupported of course) but after I did it there were a few that said they just had to try a couple more times and theirs worked eventually. Wish I could be more help.
Unless there is a limit on the number of items returned via the Plex API (I honestly dont know), PseudoTV should be pulling in every item added to your playlist. However, I should also note that pseudotv will skip over any Plex media with a duration property not set. You can fix this by “Analyzing” your media in Plex. PseudoTV needs the duration property to calculate start, stop times, and other time logic.
Unfortunately playlists are not watched and wont automatically update as content is added/removed/edited. The first couple builds of pseudotv worked like this tho. There was no web UI, and playlists were pulled in directly from Plex to create channels, rather than maintaining a database for channels like we do in the current version… https://github.com/DEFENDORe/pseudotv/tree/ff808b419e0d65c08234bbe91547658946ba6d95
Are you running the latest build? 0.0.51
Pretty sure this issue was fixed in the latest release.
FYI - for some reason some of my channels were not showing. I had to go into Settings\Live TV & DVR select the “#” Enabled" and check each one then choose the channel/playlist I created. Not sure why it did this but now my channels are showing properly.
I still consider everything to be pretty alpha lol. It would feel wrong to accept donations haha.
You don’t even know how big the smile on my face is reading your post haha. Cheers dude, its so cool knowing people are using my software.
I’ve experience some hiccups with the “auto map channels” feature during my testing as well. If you are using PseudoTV on the same machine as your Plex server, I’d advise against using a loopback address (127.0.0.1/localhost) when configuring your Plex server in the PseudoTV web UI. Use the network address of the machine (192.168.1.100). I personally haven’t had issues since doing this.
If your issues persists tho, add an issue to the GitHub page.
