RTMPVideoURL using Real RTMP Won't Play on iOS?

Ahh I see. It sounds to me like it might be something going on between PMC’s librtmp and PMS’s librtmp or something specific with the transcoder in PMS then. I wouldn’t pull out too much hair if you have it working elsewhere because it sounds like it’s something out of our control. Do you have a working rtmpdump command for it you can paste in here? That might be something that we can pass along to others to try and debug the PMS end of things if that’s what it turns out to be …

As for the web client it’s not really got much in the way of channel support yet but it’s getting there, so I wouldn’t put too much effort into trying to get it working there (yet).

Well the word seems to be that PMS is probably just not going to handle transcoding the live rtmp streams at this point … you’re welcome to keep trying but this seems like a stopper at this point in time.

Thanks for all the help guys, if I went with a site config would it likely work with iOS since it will use webkit on my PMS?

In theory yes. As long as the Server is capable of transcoding webkit, then it should work on iOS. That rules out Linux-based PMS installs, and for some reason there is a disproportionate number of Windows Server-based PMS installs that have trouble with webkit. Since the live RTMP only works on the Desktop client, a webkit based alternative might be your best bet if you want more client compatibility.
