Unable to map external hard drive and pull videos

that actually would be perfect for the movie/tv part… actually what i plan on doing with them… 4tb for my movies and 14 for the Tv

Then let’s do that now, why wait.

Rename them to what you want and we’ll work around the new naming.

(back in 3 minutes)

Sounds good, I appreciate the help. Going to figure out how to rename them haha, but i’ll stick with the: /disks/14TB-movies and /disks/14TB-tv

Thanks to ChuckPa for the help. As you could tell i was having a hard time mounting my external drives. Chuck was able to talk me through the process of getting my drives mounted correctly (I thought they were before but found out they were not). He helped me with the correct naming convention.

I was able to find my external drives, get the UUIDs to the specific drives I was looking for, correctly mount them with the right read/write access.

For any other noobs out there like myself, its not like windows where you can plug your external drive in and map files to it. You have to mount the drives and tell your operating system where to places the files along with renaming them to something a bit easier/normal. Once you have everything correctly mapped you can then have plex mapped to the correct folder.

Big shout out to Chuck as I would of maybe figured this out within the next 10 years. He really did go above and beyond.

If I may add?

While Windows makes it easy, it doesn’t give you a lot of control over how drives are handled.

In Linux, you have to be precise. You have to know how to guarantee the drives always end up where you want them so your final configuration for Plex never falters even if you unplug and then later reconnect the drive(s).

Linux will always do what you tell it. That’s the beauty but also the burden.
