In the Log management under the security tab you need to set logs to High and in the options section Enable accepted**
This step is also very important. The script looks at the logs. Make sure you have ‘accepted’ enabled. Let me know if this help
Wired static ip from router to server - xxx.xxx.0.115 (server has this static ip )
Port forwarded on router dd-wrt using port range forwading 32400 to xxx.xxx.0.115 - working fine for plex inside and outside usage
Upnp service enabled
Script in place under commands and saved startup
Cron schedule with the following to wake server if asleep and not in use
00 08 * * * root /usr/sbin/wol -p 9 -i 192.168.0.255 AC:9E:17:F0:9C:38
00 16 * * * root /usr/sbin/wol -p 9 -i 192.168.0.255 AC:9E:17:F0:9C:38
00 23 * * * root /usr/sbin/wol -p 9 -i 192.168.0.255 AC:9E:17:F0:9C:38
Jffs2 support enabled
Wake on Lan Daemon enabled with proper Host name which is the broadcast address and mac address
syslogd enabled but no remote server entry at this time set to high and accepted only enabled
Static lease entered for both server address 0.115 and broadcast address 0.255 (192.168.0.xxx)
I believe this should cover it but from all your notes i believe i covered all so far i am double checking and will update this if i missed something. Hope this information helped and thanks for your help also.
PS: Wow isp blocked use of team-viewer - been using that for over 10 years here with kids in college it was a blessing and eliminated 8 hrs of travel one way. Using team-viewer to wake is fine but not what i am trying to accomplish. I want a outside client to wake server using plex logon to my server.
Also tried dshutdown program and will not run on windows 10 here. run as administrator pops up then off and click on it in tray and it goes away.
Okay, is the script running on the ap? The script needs to run on the router that has a direct connection to the server. The connection logs will be on that router. Not sure why you would want to use crone scheduling, it’s not needed. Number 6,7, and 8 are useless. Turn off jffs2 and Wol daemon. The script supersedes these. Also I didn’t see you put that you started your logs. Have only ‘accepted’ enable. This pic is just generic.
You also don’t need a static release for the broadcast address, delete that. The broadcast address is just the range of hosts connected to that ip range.
Z,
All done per your request and rebooted - what do you want next to test - I am putting server asleep and now will try to wake it - Let me know what you would like to see from me next
So far you the MAN… I have woken the server from my laptop after putting to sleep via teamviewer 1 min sleep mode. Woke up when accessing Plex via website url. yippee… Now let it go back to sleep and had my girlfriend try the same thing via firefox www.plex.tv/web with her tablet and it woke it also. This is all done via Local Network. Need to try outside of it and see if family and friends can wake it and if so I will be a very happy camper.
PS: I also have lock screen enabled on the server which is good for security for now lol
What version of dshutdown are you using? It also cannot be used in the downloads folder. It must have its own folder on the operating system computer drive somewhere to work
Lock Screen - Computer locked and Plex is accessible without issue
dshutdown is on partitioned drive and in its own folder http://dimio.altervista.org/ version 1.73.1
Moved dshutdown to root of c drive and works now. But if the scripts works from outside i will not use it as all will be working they way i want. Yippppeeeee you have been a great help
I use both in tandem. Dshutdown shuts it down if there’s no outgoing Internet traffic such as a movie and the script wakes it up if it’s asleep. Let me know if you want to configure dshutdown to make it completely autonomous. It’s good for a headless server. Glad I could help!
I will let you know on setting that up as for now all is good. Also I can get to server anytime as i use Teamviewer religiously - Server is connected to 60" Samsung TV - Plex is running as a service as well as Teamviewer and gets turned on automatically each boot so if i need to get to it at anytime anywhere i can.
Again great instructions and as i say Teamwork works - two heads better than one as my daughter tells me. lol I will stay in touch if you wish.
You have a smart daughter! I generally enjoy this so if you have any questions in the future don’t hesitate to shoot some questions my way. I’ll help the best I can. Good luck!
