Nope, you’re not missing anything… It is indeed a desktop based Plex product, that works particularly well on a big screen, and just so happens to be able to play multi-channel audio, when the Firestick doesn’t. Just about covers it.
You are trying to find a solution for “every” room. And as it stands, that may only be a desktop! Although I have no idea about the AppletTV, or the Roku, or game consoles, or the Shield… They may work, but I guess you’d have to either try them or ask others on the forum if they are aware of the capabilities of those products.
