Yahoo Screens/Burning Love

Just an update and clarification for my setup.....

I got this channel working along with most, if not all of my video channels :). It turned out that my Antivirus suite was stopping a lot of stuff! Damn AVG! AVG is great for catching the crap and getting rid of it but sometimes it goes overboard and stops stuff that I want through... So I updated AVG and it let the channels through!

So as far as I watched in Burning Love and another show on here, it works! :D

crimson fury, have you watched any of the Burning Love episodes all the way through to the end?

OK I was able to do a little more testing today and it does not seem to be linked to playing the longer videos. I can play any video once. After playing any video once, you cannot play that video again. The next day, it starts all over again and you can play any video once. It doesn't matter what client I use to watch a video, after I have watched the video once on any client, it will not play the second time on that client or any other client.

On PMC, Burning Love episodes (the longer videos) will play all the way thru the first time you start them in PMC, even if they have failed in other clients, but will not play a second time.  All other shows in PMC fail the first time, if they have been played first by another client. The error message is just "Error while opening this file."

On Roku, I can play any video once, as long as it is not longer than four minutes. Videos that are longer than four minutes play to the four minute point and then kick me out. The error message in Roku is the "video unavailable."

On Plex/Web, the longer videos will play all the way thru the first time, but on the second run you get an error no matter what resolution you choose.  The error is "Cannot load MU38: 404 not found."  On the second try of Burning Love episodes in Plex/Web, if I choose the same quality as before, it takes me to the Yahoo Screens website. If I choose another quality, it gives the 404 error.

I have also tried restarting PMS but that does not clear the error. Only time makes the shows work again.

As I said, as far as the coding of the channel, I took out any cache coding from the channel after your suggestion and I thought it may have to do with the parameters YahooScreen puts on its urls, but it does the same thing with the Animal All Star videos, which do not have any parameters on the urls.

The logs show no errors just the Response: [200] MediaContainer when trying to play the video.  When I open the Burning Love show in Roku, I do get "WARNING (objectkit:193) - Media part has no streams - attempting to synthesize" which may be why that show cuts off at the four minute mark in Roku and not in the other clients.

This may solve the problem: https://github.com/plexinc-plugins/Services.bundle/commit/c6ff0c983f6b641f181c213f58034aab298b95f0 I'll push an updated services bundle out asap.

I went in and tested the service using http://localhost:32400/system/services/url/lookup? I entered the url, and then pulled one of the parts (just chose the first one 1080p version) and pasted that after http://localhost:32400.

It will play the part container of a video that has not been played yet but comes up as a blank page for those that have been played before.

I looked at the log for the channel and it shows the same first part container key (/:/plugins...) is the same as when I do the URL service manual test for the video, and pulling the video up using this method gives a blank url.

But I did notice that the channel log then shows this line immediately after it tries to fetch the blank url:

Fetching 'http://video.query.yahoo.com/v1/public/yql?q=SELECT%20%2A%20FROM%20yahoo.media.video.streams%20WHERE%20id%3D%2262d6d099-57f7-37d4-a79c-74fe67899625%22%20AND%20format%3D%22mp4%22%20AND%20protocol%3D%22http%22%20AND%20plrs%3D%22KzaK_PIQqQ8qLDXmj0F1Wh%22%20AND%20region%3D%22US%22%3B&env=prod&format=json' from the HTTP cache

I am guessing, that this is the address your service uses to find the url of the video.  So I put this address into the web browser and found that the path mentioned in the link above is different than the path given in the url given in the part key through the manual test.  When I enter the url with the new path from the page above, the url works.

Here is the url given by the manual test in the part key:
http://c-6c29229e42ea463efe3f8698f692e98a.a-uzoovyc2.i-6bcaa6a1.http.atlas.cdn.yimg.com/uzoovyc2/lotus/1368017408829_642_21xFnOn5OHbf1_1_0.mp4?b=15250&d=+y+62d6d099-57f7-37d4-a79c-74fe67899625+MWljb2YwbDhwNGxnciZiPTMmcz1yYQ--+atlas+ca&dt=us+us_t+vid+b+cdn+cat&m=video%2fmp4&ns=ps+ss&ps=KzaK_PIQqQ8qLDXmj0F1Wh&ss=a4fea081-7be0-4743-bb71-fdf39524aa40&x=1368545037&s=ac1c1055e1ac7c51d20d56105129db51

Here is the path for that url given by the manual test in the part key:
/uzoovyc2/lotus/1368017408829_642_21xFnOn5OHbf1_1_0.mp4?b=15250&d=+y+62d6d099-57f7-37d4-a79c-74fe67899625+MWljb2YwbDhwNGxnciZiPTMmcz1yYQ--+atlas+ca&dt=us+us_t+vid+b+cdn+cat&m=video%2fmp4&ns=ps+ss&ps=KzaK_PIQqQ8qLDXmj0F1Wh&ss=a4fea081-7be0-4743-bb71-fdf39524aa40&x=1368545037&s=ac1c1055e1ac7c51d20d56105129db51

Here is the path given in the json url mentioned in the channel log that I believe you use for your service:
/uzoovyc2/lotus/1368017408829_642_21xFnOn5OHbf1_1_0.mp4?b=15250&d=+y+62d6d099-57f7-37d4-a79c-74fe67899625+YnVqZjI2aDhrNWd2MCZiPTMmcz1hNw--+atlas+ca&dt=us+us_t+vid+b+cdn+cat&m=video%2fmp4&ns=ps+ss&ps=KzaK_PIQqQ8qLDXmj0F1Wh&ss=9f58fe5d-c03f-477a-89ee-fc12fd582f02&x=1368556724&s=145b9ee65ddf2072734004d8ecbfdfb6

Some of the parameters are different. The + at the end of the ?b is different and the ?ss is different

That should fix it.  As the post above shows, I was just going through the channel log and found the json and saw some of the parameters were different for the videos that were coming back bad.

Thanks.

BTW, tested the channel today to make sure your changes to the URL service fixed everything and it did. The channel is working fine again.

Can you update the first post with the link to your Git for this? I keep having to look through the pages for your link...

I will have to see if I have the latest... Because I keep having the same problem as others here where the episodes fail before finished and they won't ever play again.

Sorry about that.  I will update the front page with the new Github.  It should work now that they updated the service.  Try rebooting to make sure you have the updated services.  The longer videos appear to be in parts and will reload halfway through but will pick up again where they left off.  I will do a quick test to make sure everything is still up since I haven't checked it in a few days and let you know.

I tested the channel again this evening just to make sure and it still seems to be working fine since the update to the URL service. So the channel should be working without any problems now. The fixes that were made to the URL service should update automatically and not require downloading the show again, since that part is located in the Services bundle for Plex and is not part of the channel bundle.

If you still seem to be having trouble, you could try going to the channel directory and choose the "Check for Updates"  in the bottom row and then restart Plex Media Server (and try leaving Plex Media Server off for a few minutes before restarting it, just to make sure it is truly reloading everything.)

BTW, the only difference since the update is that when using Roku, for longer videos, they appear to reload at the 4 minute mark, but after the reload, it picks up where it left off and plays thru to the end.

There has been a complete redesign of the YahooScreen website. I am aware of this and am currently writing a new channel to work with the new design. Hopefully I will have something in the next day. Also waiting on a change to the services before any videos will play.

I have just uploaded a new version that works and gives you access to the all the sections of the Yahoo Screen site again, so you can have access to the channel again. Due to the rewrite of the Yahoo Website, the navigation is much more difficult and cumbersome. I will be attempting to work on this and make changes to the channel over the next couple of days to see if I can improve the channel navigation.  I will update everyone here when I have completed all the tweaks to the channel.

They have made some more changes to this channel.  I am going to close this version and open it in the Plex channel since it has been up and running for awhile

Here is a link to the new post for this in the Plex Channel section of the forum
