Ability to disable Upcoming and BluRay row on the discovery screen

Add an option to disable the discovery row featuring Upcoming and Releasing Soon BluRay Trailers on the server.

Trailers are ads… We shouldn’t see them or should have an option to disable them. Especially people who are paying for this service.

more threads about it.

Do you want just the trailers for the movies you have in your library? Is that what you are asking for?

If so, you can do this already. Open the Web App -> Settings -> Server -> Extras and make sure you have Choose Cinema Trailers from - All Movies. Then check Include Cinema Trailers from movies in my library and uncheck Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies in Theaters.

With these settings the only trailers you get played as the extras are those you have in your libraries and not from downloaded sources. This means you have to find your own trailers and name them properly with the -trailer switch in order for Plex to be able to associate them with your media, and play them based on the ratings correctly.

No it’s a discovery row that has no option to be disabled as confirmed by an Employee here.

Basically we can’t turn off ads.

Agreed. Thanks for posting this. +1

I don’t see this row on the home screen? I don’t recall ever seeing it or an option to turn it on or off. On my home screen I have Continue Watching, On Deck, and Recently Added for the two libraries I have “include in dashboard” box ticked. Similar on my iphone, the plex for windows app, and Amazon TV. It looks like you’re all plex pass subscribers so I don’t know why things would work differently for us.

Go to your movie library and look for Upcoming trailers. This is where it appears.

Fingers crossed.

Agreed, I need to be able to disable the upcoming theatrical and bluray trailers. I find the trailers inappropriate for my kids (6 and 8). How long until this issue is resolved?

Same here. The trailers that it shows are completely inappropriate, and my kids use plex way more than I do at this point. I really need to figure out some way to block this or I’ll be forced to take away their favorite app.

Agreed. I have kids and want this disabled. Also, I don’t like paying for ads.

+1 I also have young lids and want the option to disable this feature. I’m a paying customer and want to be able to customize my experience. I’m not saying Plex should take it out of the software, just allow me, and the others who’d like to, to disable it.

I do not see anything like you are describing.
Have you unchecked “Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies in theaters” from Extras?

This feature currently has no way to control the content or whether or not it is enabled.

See this post for more info and links to the other conversations, we have been trying to have this adjusted for 6 months now.

+1. Please add an option to disable this feature. I do not want these trailers showing up on my device.

+1. Please do not ever force any feature on users. Always include a means to disable or opt-out!

Agreed, I would like to disable this feature. Just updated my media server and now I’m seeing these trailers. I just want them to go away!

@“Bridget Hanson”: I consider you’re late to the show…
uncheck Settings > Server > Extras > Include Cinema Trailers from new and upcoming movies on Blu-ray and you should be ok.

@tom80H Thank you. I did have that box unchecked but apparently I had to also restart the media server. (And, yes, I am late, just set this all up yesterday.)

That issue is not what this is… This hub was disabled along time ago and hasn’t returned and hopefully never does.

Early 2021 clean-up: obsolete (hub no longer available)
