I have searched the forums without success. The option to allow managed users to access Live TV is available from plex.tv launch under the users menu, and Restrictions. It is not available from my launching plex from my local IP. Even though available, when the check box is checked, saved, the managed user still does not have access to Live TV via the web app (inside the physical home network). Am I missing something?
What version of Plex Server are you running?
Version 1.10.1.4602 Server
Version 3.32.2 Web app
Update to 1.11.0
Thanks. Upgraded to 1.11.0 and Managed User now has access to Live TV.
hey there , i am having the same issue. I am on version 1.11.0.4666 and i cant see the option to enable TV.
@bradbor where are you looking? Settings/Users. Select user to allow and go to Restrictions tab.
I’m having the same issue. I have a PlexPass lifetime, and my husband has an account. I’m running 1.10.1.4602 (up to date) on MacOS 10.13.2. I have tried it as him being a managed user, and as his own Plex.tv account listed under “Friends”. There’s no option to show Live TV.

@walterhpdx you need to update to 1.11.0 as mentioned in the accepted answer for this thread.
Jeez - I’m a bit dyslexic. My brain saw 1.11.0, and I didn’t think there was an update when Plex said I was up to date. Thanks.
i am having the same issue as walterhpdx and i don’t see the option for access live tv
@huntis see the accepted answer for the thread. If your Plex Media Server is older than 1.11.0 you will not see the option when using a Managed User account.

@huntis you probably have the Public channel selected in your Settings. 1.11.0 has not been released to Public yet, only Beta channel.
You can always check the Release Announcements page to find out about new releases.
Looks like it’s working great for me. But just to check - no ability for managed users to create/modify recordings, right?
Correct, Managed Users do not have access to DVR features.
I have 2 servers running plex Version 1.11.0.4666 (1 windows 7 and 1 Centos 7)
web Version 3.32.2
each has it’s own HDHomeRun PRIME…
both can record and play live TV from the admin account.
but still cannot set users to watch live TV… The setting just doesn’t show up.
I’ve tried every combination of login, reboot, web selection etc… no joy…
Are they friends or actual managed users in your account?
You can only see that option on My Home Users, not Friends. Don’t know if that makes a difference for you, but took me a couple of tries before figuring that point out. HTH
