Here is a post from the public Forum, which i like to publish here, in order to get more attention.
As it is, when importing Movies into My Library, I can edit a wide variety of fields, including Title, Sort Title, Studio, Tagline, Summary, Directors, Writers, etc. One thing that is not available to edit is the Cast Listing. This becomes an issue when matching your media to a database such as Freebase, where the top three listed cast (the ones that get displayed within Plex and the Roku app) aren't accurate.
For example, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 gets the cast matched as follows:
And Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 (as well as the rest of the films), have the following preferred cast listing:
Often (with other movies) it will have the Top Three Cast as actors who you have never heard of and played very small parts in the movie. For example, a Mission Impossible movie gets imported without Tom Cruise being in the cast listing.
I understand automatically importing the top three names listed in the online databases. But I would immensely appreciate the option to edit (or manually enter) which names are displayed for the top three cast. Ideally, the editing screen would look identical to the other fields (see below) but with the understanding that only the top three names would be displayed (as it is with the top two genres).
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I really appreciate it!
Its pretty much what i think.
So to be clear:
1. - Ability to change Order of Actors within a Movie
Totally agree! However I use it for my personal video collection where I tag the video clips with the people (="actors") who’s in the clip. Same problem there though; can't have more than three people tagged on one clip, which seams kind of bananas. Hope this will be fixed in future releases.
The odd cast selection also bothers me... Very often it lists minor roles and it seems pretty random, completely missing the starring actors. Is this a problem with the Freebase database? Is there a fix in the making?

One of the recent updates for The Movie Database agent should have solved this problem. You can use this a your primary agent for a movies section, or drag it to a high(er) position on the agents list for Freebase.

Yes, please let us edit the cast! My specific use case is for personal videos where there is no online source for metadata. So the accuracy of matches is a non issue, without being able to edit them I simply don't have any data at all.

Right! Thats a perfect idea of usage. I would really like to search HomeMovies for Persons.
I agree 100%! If I can edit the director, why not the cast?
Also, I would add the ability to search movies by actor/director! My wife and many of my friends have favorite actors and it would be nice to be able to pull up an accurate list of movies by name!

As far as I know you can filter movies by actor or director in Plex clients.
I've tried from the web client with no luck. I'll try from the roku also but if the list is inaccurate, it won't help much.
In the Plex web client, go to the Movies section.
Click on this symbol:
Click on New Filter:
Choose either Actor or Director:
???
Profit!
You can even combine filters, say Director and Actor, and on the right you can choose list view so you get a handy list of all the movies that fit these filters.
Using the filter did work...thanks for the information.
I still think a simple search for the name should yield the same results. I'm a google fanatic....search operations like "actor:hanks AND director:sp*" would be much more efficient to get what I want. I have 500+ movies, so that would help. Also, if the Cast field isn't accurate and/or editable, it's all moot anyways.
I wholeheartedly back this request - there are a number of movies that I wouldn't mind being able to reshuffle the cast list or add one. Hopefully this is something that's included in the next major release.

Woohoo... so glad I found this! Why is this not default?
