I can't speak for the developers, but if you do an in depth search for similar topics, you will find that it has never been possible to edit this information. There's probably a logical reason for not providing this capability, but I've found topics that date years back asking for the same thing--I doubt you'll ever see this feature implemented.
Thanks timid1, I had searched and not found an answer, but it seems bizarre that when the data scraped is incorrect or missing important info like the main actors name from the cast list that this can not be changed.
You can change director and writer but I can't see searches for these being done as frequently as search by actor. It makes the whole feature utterly useless if that data is not scraped and you can't correct it manually.

The data sourced from the agents is correct, it just sounds like you are using wikipedia as your source which does not prioritise the actor data - re-prioritise your agents so you use a better source (e.g. themoviesdb) then do a forced refresh to update everything.
I'm not using Wikipedia, I have Freebase then TMDB and have the same problem. A couple of examples, A Good Day to Die Hard doesn't even have the main star, Bruce Willis, listed but has very minor players such as Megalyn Echikunwoke who played 'Pretty Reporter'. Edge of Tomorrow doesn't have Tom Cruise listed but has somebody that played 'Dog Soldier 1', Godzilla(2014) doesn't have Bryan Cranston or Aaron Taylor-Johnson but has the guy who played the unnamed father of a kid and was on screen for less than sixty seconds.
It's not a huge problem for me personally as I really don't filter by actor as I want to watch a film based on what it's about not who is in it but it does seem rather counter intuitive to have anonymous henchman listed but not the main star.

Plex has no idea what is intuitive or not, it is at the mercy of how the agent returns the data.

It thought I was clear when I said it, my apologies. Freebase and TMDB are above wikipedia in the ordering (See attached Screenshots) and as for being intuitive I meant about not having the ability to edit the actors like you can writer and director so you can correct it.

which one are you actually using for your section?
maybe freebase also does not return them in the "right" order. With the order mine are in, all the info is right.
Under freebase tab I only have freebase and the movie database ticked in that order top to bottom
Ordering of your agents isn't going to solve the fundamental problem of not being able to edit actors. I don't want to see you or anyone else waste their time!
The fact is that you cannot edit this information. Plex doesn't provide this interface. I will look for a few posts over the last few years when I get home tonight... It goes back years!

No, you can't edit them, but ordering your agents means there is no need to.
I guess it is only a waste of time if your desire is to go on and on about it, rather than make a change and move on.
which agent do you use for your Libraries - sounds like freebase given you still have the "bad" data.
Hi Bob
Under movies, I have the sub sections:
Personal Media, Freebase, The movie database
Under Personal Media, Personal media is selected and cannot be deselected, Personal Media Assets (Movies) is not selected
Under Freebase, Freebase is selected and cannot be deselected. I have tried various combos of selecting / deselecting other options
Under the movie database, The movie database is selected and cannot be deselected. I have tried various combos of selecting / deselecting other options
So my understanding (which may be totally wrong) is that it is using Freebase and The Movie Database as these are not options I can deselect

They are the options available to you when you create your movie library.
Plex/Web -> Hover over your movie library in the list on the left -> click the pencil -> advanced -> what agent?
It was set to Freebase. After seeing your post I changed it to The Movie Database, saved, closed down PLEX, reopened and rescanned.
The movie database lists the cast as Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Olivia Munn, Cody Horn but what I get is below.
The director and writer are correct and the cast list is also correct but only lists the small part actors and not the main actors
Magic Mike
2012
Comedy, Comedy
1 hr 50 min
Work all day. Work it all night.
Director Steven Soderbergh
Writer Reid Carolin
Cast Caitlin Gerard, Cameron Banfield, Asher Wallis, Alison Faulk, Denise Vasi

a rescan won't do anything, as i mention above, you need to do a forced refresh to get the new metadata.
