No with the new Premium Music feature in place Plex becomes even better for hosting music.
However there are many devices that don't support Plex directly but they support DLNA/UPNP so they can stream music this way from a Plex Media Server.
But as soon as the music collection is a bit bigger it is hard to find the song you are looking for. So it would be nice to support remote searching via UPNP it would make Plex much more useful as a media server.
Really want this - I have a Musaic streamer and it works on DLNA but no search from Plex. Do I really have to run a separate DLNA server just for music?
I am very surprised this feature is not more requested. I’m running Twonkey besides of my PMS, but it’s a waste of resources. It would also be nice to see “last played” numbers, if they were played trough the UPnP/DLNA interface.

There is something wrong with the links above.
Thanks, the posts were form before the forum switch so not everything was corrected. I edited the links in both topics to make it easier for people to find both topics.
This seems to have been left…

I would LOVE to see this implemented so I can use other clients when plex client isn’t available, or is crashing! ( Or for the fact that plex android doesn’t let you download your music files to your tablet in any recognisable named condition! Instead, opting to hide the synced audio files inside directories you won’t easily find, in random named format.!)
Please implement upnp search for non plex clients!
