Ignore function - TV Series

I would like to be able to ignore a TV series.

This is something that would be very useful for Home. So to give an example, I watch tv series my wife has no interest in, so they are filling up her home view with unwatched stuff, that she has to mark as unwatched.

So add the ability to Ignore a tv series. Once set, even if new episodes are added, they are simply ignored from her view, and like wise I can ignore stuff that I have no interest in.

Why not just make you and your wife separate “Home” users. That way you maintain separate watched lists etc so your watching will not effect hers and the other way around as well.

You could even have three users his, hers and ours and use the whichever user makes sense for given content.

I already have a separate user for the wife.

What I am saying is if you have say 50 series and your wife has 3 for example, that would be 47 series she would have to keep marking as watched, to keep her view uncluttered and I would set her 3 series to ignore, so I don’t see her shows appear.

So what would be ideal, is that my wife she marks certain tv series as Ignore, and from that point forward she would don’t have them cluttering up her view as they are added to the library, behind the scene.

I think it would be useful feature.

I think this already existing idea is what you want to support: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/150844/feature-request-plex-home-inverse-filter-blacklist/p1

I would split your library into 2. “For Her” and “For Him”. Then you only share the appropriate library to the appropriate user account. Then you won’t see each other’s shows.

That would mean you have to manage the shows which are going to each library. You have suggested a solution, it isn’t very elegant though, and doesn’t really scale very well. Would you suggest a library for each user for tv series. Each time a new show was added, someone (me) would have to go in and add/subtract from each library, the new show.

My suggestion would leave the choice completely up the user.

I had a look at the black list suggestion, and that really isn’t what I am suggesting and again has a high maintenance overhead. We already have restrictions based on content type, which are fine for age based users. Young kids, etc.

I would like a simple right-click Ignore (with an un ignore option), from the tv series view.

The home feature is a nice starting point, it just need more finesse.

What about the reverse - instead of an “exclude” list, why not have a “favorites” or “Watch” list like Netflix does?

+1 I would not expect the show to be excluded out of the main library, just from ever appearing in “On Deck” and “Recently Added” sections on the frontpage.

+1 - I just want shows I don’t watch to have new episodes automatically marked as watched. I always filter my TV by unwatched but then have to mark 2 or 3 episodes every night as watched on shows I have no interest in.

Well that’s great that my request was closed as a duplicate. I did search, and this thread didn’t come up. BUT, the more important part is that there hasn’t been any movement on this for two years.

I would have thought this would have been a relatively straight forward one to implement.

It is annoying to still be having to mark my Wifes series as watched

I’d love this as well… especially with the kid now having discovered plex… Geordie Shore is not something I want to see passing by on my deck…

A request for the same feature exists already, and it has more votes.

Therefore this one is closed, to prevent spreading the votes across several threads, even though they vote for the same (or at least very similar thing).

Votes are given back to the users who voted on this request. Please think of re-voting in the other thread if you still want it.
