I manage all the media / plex server in my house (housemates are complete tech noobs) and they are always bugging me when new releases are added.
I’d love to be able to integrate Slack into PMS, so that plex could post to a channel in Slack that will say there is a new episode available, which will notify my housemates via the slack app on their mobiles (we use slack to run our in house communication)
Currently, couch potato advises us of new movies, but my tv software doesn’t have the full functionality yet.
From my knowledge of Slack, you can post via API or web hook. Not sure which is easier to develop.
PlexPy can do this, as one of the options available in it, or PlexWatch/Web with other types of apps than Slack. From looking at it, Slack looks a lot like PushBullet. It may be an easy thing for the developers to add the support for it In either app. If you look for them in the third party developers forum, you can find links to their GitHub, and put in a feature request.
Ideally we want to see the full functionality of either of the notifications and historical apps integrated into PMS itself, but in the mean time, the functionality can be had with either third party app.
