If I have PHT on MacBook Pro, is there and advantage with my Nas being the plex server as opposed to the Mac as both the server and the client. I’m talking about a Nas that can fully transcoding anything up to 1080p like my WD mycloud pro 2100). Specifically I’m wondering if using the mbp as both client and server could help to have less transcoding and more direct play, due to the Mac supporting more codecs both as a server transcoding a wider range of codecs and as a client being a make to receive a wider range?
Also maybe the mbp as client and server setup is capable of transcoding at a better quality because it is powerful enough to cpu transcode and not hardware transcode. Maybe there are other benefits to?
