Moving Content Between Cloud Storage Providers

As we begin inviting more users into the Plex Cloud Beta, it’s safe to assume some might want to migrate their data between cloud storage providers or sync multiple cloud accounts together. We have gathered several options for transferring your content from one cloud to another. While this is not an exhaustive list, it does represent some of the most cost effective solutions available. Please note that transfer speeds listed are estimates and can fluctuate based on network conditions between cloud storage providers and the quantity and size of your files.

The services mentioned and linked above are provided simply as a convenience to users. We’re not affiliated with them and this should not be considered a formal endorsement. If you want to use one, cool. If not… that’s cool, too.

#CloudFuze

CloudFuze is a premium hosted service providing cloud-to-cloud migration and syncing. They offer an easy interface for drag-and-drop transfers between cloud services. CloudFuze securely tracks each migration and sends you a full report on completion. They say to expect speeds of about 5GB to 20GB per hour, though your mileage may vary.

CloudFuze is offering a special discount for Plex users!
Plex users can get an unlimited account for $119.99 a year or $24.99 a month. This is a limited time offer and expires on Aug 31st, 2017. The special pricing lasts for as long as the CloudFuze subscription remains active.

How to get the discount

  2. Once logged in, click on the Upgrade button in the top right corner.
  3. Select the Advanced plan by clicking Subscribe (you’ll see a message for Plex users next to the correct plan).

  5. Click Proceed to Checkout.

#CloudHQ

CloudHQ is a premium hosted service that will transfer your data directly from one cloud storage provider to another, without using your Internet connection. For $9.90 a month (paid annually, $118.80) their plan offers unlimited data traffic, one-way and two-way syncing, and backup between cloud storage providers. CloudHQ also offers a free tier for transferring between “free” cloud storage accounts. They also have free Chrome extensions to simply migrations and syncing. They have a 15 day free trial to give their service a try. Their support article says to expect transfer speeds of about 1GB to 10GB per hour, though your mileage may vary.

#CloudSync by Bdrive

Cloud Sync by Bdrive is a lower cost alternative to CloudHQ at $0.99 a month or $9.90 a year. User reports indicate this service is not nearly as fast as CloudHQ and has a minimal user interface, but the price makes up for it for the bargain hunter.

#Rclone

For advanced users, Rclone presents a free command-line option for transferring your content. Unlike the services mentioned above, your computer and internet connection (both upload and download) will be used for the data transfers. The speed and realistic throughput of your Internet connection and any ISP bandwidth caps may have an impact on how suitable this option would be.

Tip: If you don’t plan on continuing to use any of these hosted services to sync your data across multiple cloud storage providers, we suggest changing your cloud provider passwords after the data transfers are complete.
