I apologise in advance if this has been asked for elsewhere (but I couldn’t find reference to it).
When setting up users access to various libraries would it not make life easier and simpler to allow for the creation of user groups.
I run an FTP server and anyone that is a member of a particular group gets access to all the files / libraries within that group (it can be tailored further but I’ll keep it simple for now).
So you could have groups like Default, TV Shows, Movies, Kids, Teens & Adult etc. You still need the ability to add individual libraries to users.
When you need to edit ‘multiple’ users access to a library, just edit an existing group or delete / create a new one. This way you affectively only need to create / edit anything once.
It’s just a thought, as I’ve just spent 45 minutes editing 14 user accounts access to 28 different libraries which in theory I could have in one move, if ‘groups’ existed
I’m not slagging Plex off, the changes / improvements that I have seen made over the years are truly impressive and prompted the purchase of a Plexpass based on the existing features alone. Plex has been no end of help in distributing TV around my house and latterly to family & friends via plexweb and NowTV boxes. I Wish you all the best and look forward to the future :D
I made a search and found this. This is 2 years old almost. I just added a new folder Workout videos -p90x- and the stuff i wanted to share with my friends and some fam.
I was editing each user to get access to that folder and it took a long time.
hope this can help surface the issue of group edits to edit everything.
If i had a “coworkers” group of say 10 people.
I could have just added access to that group instead of clicking through all 10 of those to enable to the folder.
