4K support not working?

Firecore is nice but doesn’t do everything either, like no display rate switching. There will never be a single App that does everything perfectly. This doesn’t mean that I don’t sometimes get frustrated with some choices Plex has made.

I agree, I’d much rather be using plex for everything. Unfortunately they are really dragging their feet on this. There is such a lack of transparency with them as well. At least if they could let people know progress on issues, people may not get so frustrated.

Hi,

so if I read this correctly direct streaming of HEVC to tvOS 11 currently is not possible but it is worked on? So I can either use HEVC/mp4 and direct play (unfortunately I am not able to get TrueHD Atmos in MP4 streams) or wait for plex to build in MKV-direct streaming to plex?

Any other alternative? Has anyone gotten Atmos/TrueHD into MP4?

I can direct play to my LG but via HDMI ARC I cannot get TrueHD. Are there any options to get both, 4K and Atmos out of plex that I am missing?

BTW: transcoding h.265 to h.264 would be an option. I am planning on a new NAS server that would have appr. 2 CPUs with 16k passmark each. Any chance for this to be fast enough?

Regards,
JP

Latest public release does.

Yes, that was a nice addition. Now let’s hope Plex will support this too as soon as tvOS 11.2 is official, more important to me than 4K streaming for the moment.
