A very simple feature request: hide a newly added movie from Recently Added view

Sometimes I add a bunch of very old movies and course they appear before the other “really new” movies that had been previously added. I find that very annoying and confusing for whoever connects to my server and just doesn’t find the new movies because they are “covered” by the old ones. I would love to have the option to hide any movie from the Recently Added view on the Home tab.

I’ll vote this but for a different reason. I dislike duplication in the “Recently Released Movies” and “Recently Added movies” which happens frequently. If something is in Recently Released, I don’t need it on the next row down as well.

+1

Thanks, been meaning to ask about this myself for a while.

Movies and episodes.
I have a few old shows set up to Optimize 5 unwatched episodes. The optomized episodes are copied to a USB drive so I have somethibg to watch directly from my TV if the power goes out. I have a generator but don’t bother running my Plex server.
Anyway, the Optimized episodes show up as Recently Added. They’re not new, just a different format.

Just a guess, but the optimized versions and the original are matched with different agents. (the TVDB / The Movie Database / Personal Media) I’m in the process of putting new HEVC versions of the episodes of “Firefly” into Plex, and they don’t show up in Recently Added. I already have two versions of all the episodes, and now some have three. I’ll probably delete all but the HEVC episodes once I’m done.

Try “Fix Match” at the series level for one of the versions, using the options to get the metadata from the agent you really want to use.

I’ve recently been updating a lot of my 720p movies to 1080p, and I’ve almost exclusively used same agent (The Movie Database) from the day I started my Plex server for the first time. At first it seemed random as to which updated movies would show up as a “newly added” movie and which wouldn’t, but then I figured out that whenever the file format changed, it would be detected as “new.”

For example, I could replace an old 720p .mkv file with a 1080p .mkv, and it wouldn’t show in newly added. But if I replaced a 720p .avi (yeah, I know, OOOOOOLD rip) with a 1080p .mkv, it WOULD show as a newly added movie. The naming convention was otherwise identical.

It would be nice to add a right click menu option on the admin account home page to “Remove From Newly Added” or something along those lines.

D’oh, the Optimized version of one show was showing up in a different library, which would be a new episode.
Thanks for making me look. :slightly_smiling_face:
