I was wondering if we could have a feature when a video files added to plex it converts to mp4 format automatically, which what basically plex sync does already when I stumbled upon it in my jailbroken ipad mini where the idea came to me, and in decent 1080p quality, I have many old previous files over the years which all are in different formats, they constantly have to be transcoded on fly every time someone uses it causing my synology DS412+ nas to not stream stable video with CPU being max (2-3 users). Perfectly fine on a single IOS device but when I got kids on their ios/andriod device then it struggles depending on format file, noticed mp4 does’nt require transcoding at all and CPU is basically 5% 10% and stable video on all devices running 1080p picture, this feature could also prolong the life of our nas without having nas constantly using CPU all the time too.
Ps I believe majority dlna support this as a standard and plex clients
