I would dearly love to discontinue use of my over-the-air Tivo and do all my local TV DVRing on my Plex. I have a set of tuners on my network and Plex does a great job for me in recording shows I have set up to record and allowing me to find them and play them back on my Roku. However the major drawback in using Plex as my primary DVR is its inability to do a “scan” forward or back while being able to see the video. I suspect that with trans-coding going on it might be difficult technically but all other streaming apps seem to do some form of this “scanning” though a few in a rather awkward way. I believe I have my system set up not to do any trans-coding so I suspect this should make it easier. A true “scan” feature (as Tivo does) would be wonderful and I would dump my Tivo in an instant if Plex would offer that flexibility.
Yes this did want I was hoping. Thank you so much.
Is there a way to set the scan speeds? A single press of “fast forward” goes so very fast it’s hard to control.
Unrelated question; On my windows desktop I have a “TODAY” field on the Plex Live TV grid above the channel names. I can use this to select future days of the grid to set up future records. On my Roku Plex app I have no such field and can only see the grid for future days by stepping through the time line over night and to the next day, very inconvenient. Is there a was to step through days in the Roku app?
