Accessing Plex server from Roku at home - with network, no internet

Hello,

Apologies as I would rate myself a very amatuer user of Plex… we live in CA and have power outages that knock out the internet (generator keeps house going). I found in the forums to access the server on the home network without internet, but all titles wouldn’t play due to a codec / player issue, I think it was looking to the internet for a resource it couldn’t find.

Is there a way around this or does Plex typically need an internet connection to play saved media? All movies and TV shows, nothing else on the server.

I think that last piece is the key… we lose power and the server goes down for an instant at a minimum, it sounds like the server needs a backup power supply to bridge that loss of power…
