Hello all. I’ve loved my Plex experience over the years & I’m currently phasing out my old i7-5820k on an Asus X-99M WS Mobo w/ 32gb of ddr4 & a 780ti GPU. New PC replacing it is an i9-13900k w/ 3080ti. I want to be able to Download from my newly built upstairs PC - MinisForum Venus UM790 pro with limited storage to a set of drives set as a central server to be accessed by all the PC’s in the house yielding enough streaming power to feed a couple (or few) 4k streams and and handful of 1080p streams without issue. Was considering adding the TERRAMASTER F2-423 with upgraded RAM or using the old 5820k PC. Server location will be inside the laundry room sink cabinet so almost no airflow… likely a large factor in decision. Old PC is fan cooled but could be changed if it allowed this location to work. So many considerations and variables and I’m very much a newb so any direction and insight would very much be appreciated. Thanks!
I realize the new (13900k) PC would be ideal for transcoding / processing power and utilized as the main server but my main goal is to be able to download with either the upstairs or downstairs PC, the upstairs one having storage capacity limitations.
