Hi
it will be really helpful to have the ability to add an DVD or BluRay iso image as supported content. This way users won’t have to convert the image anymore, or keep duplicate image files around. This is long time features supported by vlc or kodi.
thank you

See Why are ISO, VIDEO_TS, and other Disk Image Formats Not Supported? .
Plex has stated multiple time it will never happen.
There are multiple feature requests, all closed, requesting such.
Here’s a the first four when searching feature requests for “ISO.”
Yes I know this is not supported “by design”. Yes I know I can transcode / encode. And I have an elaborate script that converts my ISOs to MakeMKV and it works somehow. But it seems just wrong.
So:
On the smallest level this feature request is to recognize ISOs. Show the movies in the Plex browser and do the necessary conversion on the fly.
To extend on above: ideally support subtitles and audio tracks from the ISO and reasonable navigation.
Why: I want to keep my movies in original form…
How about taking the IOS file of a movie on the hard drive and being able to use it so it does not have to be converted to another format like mp4 or mpg.
I have too many .ISO BluRay and BluRay 3D in my collection.
Please, add support for .ISO format.
Ability to navigate menus, choose, etc. interact.I have some full ISO movies, because sometimes I like to keep the lossless quality, keep the bonus features and menus. When I try to play any of these back on my Roku, iOS, or android phone, there is no way to navigate the menus, and therefor, choose content to play. The initial menu will play, but we are unable to control anything else beyond this point. If the PMS could see when it it is playing back a full ISO, perhaps the directional pad and s…
I’ve read some of that content, but thats since 2014. I thought the ideas might have changed till now.
Why would for example when you import the iso image, the video which you want to play can’t be added ? The menus are not necessarily important. I just want the main content to be available.
Whats the actual limitation here ?
It is a design decision by Plex.
This has been discussed many times, as you can see in the other threads.
I’m now closing this thread.
