I ended up purchasing a PLEX pass before the April sale ended, but immediately after, one of my siblings who remote-streams my content reports multiple failures, rendering their PLEX experience useless, or perhaps more correctly, non-existent.
My server is running macOS 10.13.6. I recall reading in the Upcoming Change Announcement that support for macOS 10.12 would end, but no mention was made of macOS 10.13. I figured that meant I was OK to keep running 10.13.6 on my server.
Post-April, my user first started to see massive pixellation in any video stream – lots of greenish blocks – before the video would stop playing. Also, videos that they could formerly play Direct were now being transcoded and delivered in 720p rather than the 1080p original (before the stream failed and quit). That user has the Apple TV PLEX app.
Nothing changed on my end in terms of PLEX or system network configuration, or my internet service or set-up.
Any insight(s) that can be provided? I had my user logout of PLEX & then re-login, but that made no difference – the problem remains.
Curiously, another of my users has a PLEX subscription of their own and can stream my content without issue, even after the April/May change.
