Another observation / problem that may give insight. When I use the agent “Personal Media Artists” I get all my covert art working great and it also works across devices.
When I use “Plex Music” then even after creating a new library and getting the cover art working initially on say the Web app, I don’t get all the images on my iPhone or Apple TV, it’s like about 10% missing on those devices and mostly similarly named albums by the same artist is where I see the missing cover art.
Per my note above, then over time the good cover art on the Web app starts to blank out from some metadata process.
When using “Personal Media Artists” I don’t get any of this weirdness and my cover art works fine everywhere all the time.
The only reason I’m tying to get the “Plex Music” agent to work is to have access to the lyrics, bios, etc… So it’s a nice to have for me if we could get it to work.
I still don’t really understand the different agents in the sense that there are two places where you choose the agent. One is in the library settings and the other is in the Agents section in Settings.
I’m guessing the different apps cache the thumbnails differently, so that may explain why some show and some don’t. I see the same thing here.
There was a fix with version 1.24.3 for missing cover art and, so far at least, it has fixed the numerous problems that I had with missing cover art for the past couple years. About 10% of my cover art was routinely missing as I had reported above, this new version really nailed it and now I only have a handful of issues (far less than 1%).

Woohoo! Thanks for the post; once we were supplied with specific albums which reproduced the issue, it became apparent what the issue was, and happily we were able to fix it fairly quickly.
Cool @elan — in my case I had a difficult time coming up with a small library that could be a good example. I did offer to go deep with someone on my situation to debug it.
When I took some problem cases and isolated them to a single library I would not see the problem. It seemed a bit random to me and the problem would change over days, suddenly some cover art would appear and others would disappear based on meta-data processes.
Just some feedback, there seemed to be a lot of forum Plex support voices talking about folder structure and an attitude of “user error” which seemed to delay the fix — I felt like certain voices weren’t trusting all of us that we’re having an issue. I offered several times to make my server available but never really got anyone to help out. I slugged it out on a whole bunch of threads started by other people or myself to try to get attention to the bug, eventually I stumbled upon a work around that allowed me to have cover art but no lyrics or other Plex agent data. It got me by and I shared it on the forum.
For whatever reason I don’t feel that frustration on the Plexamp side of things but this was honestly two years of forum posts and trying to get attention to the bug.
With that off my chest — I’m thrilled this is fixed and it’s Miller time !!!
