I so often what to know who produced an album. The record company is available to even search or group by but not very useful in real life. Surely finding albums priced by.. is more useful. Or on what albums a certain studio musician performed. Or who played xxx on this song/album.
I’d expect clicking the album cover should show this. But I’m old enough to remember album covers. I know this data is readily available in music databases.
Although i think “liner Notes” may be the correct term I would like to see a different thing to the above linked post. They want the booklet with pictures which is of limited legibility on a mobile device and hugely variable across albums
I want to see just the data which is available. At least on Discogs you can see all musicians and producers, engineers etc on any album…if the data exists. Data can be displayed as text on any device properly, legibly and simply. Maybe a setting could make notes visible when tapping the album cover instead of visualisations?
I get the experience of holding and viewing the album sleeve or CD booklet with great visuals, but I don’t think this can universally translate to a small digital device and produce a close experience.
The other excitement of the “liner notes” is learning about the creators of the music. Who did what. and finding other music where certain musicians played or producers produced or engineers mixed. IMO this is much more useful categorization then the current ability to group by record label
