same issue here. Been happening for over a year now. I keep updated on my plex server upgrades and nothing helps neither does rolling back. I’m wondering if it’s something more on the Alexa side vs Plex.
mine was working 100% fine until last update which i did as a manual install onto the Synology DS220+ NAD. I tried uninstalling and direct install from the package center of the NAS which is usually a few stages behind. It installs but again as per the issues i found before the update Plex wont connect to the nas server. It appears my Synology NAS only works with the updated manual version of Plex and appears that this version has an issue somewhere causing this
Same issue, can not roll back as the DSM has been updated to version 7. Any update on this issue?
Same here. I’ll echo others that say it’s paused. I can say “Alexa, ask Plex Resume” and it’ll play one more song.
Add me to the list. Mine started doing this exact same thing tonight.
I have experienced the same issue on the latest release – Plex 1.23.4.4805. I have mine running on a QNAP server. Songs will stop playing after one song, regardless whether its playing a playlist or album.
Prior to this, playback on Echo devices wasn’t flawless as it would occasionally stop randomly after the end of a song (not in the middle of a song). After stopping playback on Alexa, it would occasionally still show the song still playing endlessly on the server.
I have the same problem. Alexa plays one song and then stops. Just as well that I came across this thread, as I was about to contact Amazon support thinking it was their problem.
Please fix this Plex. This is a big deal to me and I am tossing up whether to downgrade to an older version of Plex until this is fixed. In doing so though, I’ll lose all of my metadata and don’t really want to have to go through setting up again.
Any update from the Plex team if there has been any progress with this issue. I would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks for your great work.
I have found if you say alexa next when it stops playing it does continue to play the next song. Its getting really annoying though and has been broken for over a month
Glad I’m not the only one with this issue! The latest update is buggy!
Hey. What os are you using.
You can downgrade without reloading your metadata on every platform. Slightly different approach depending on which os you use, but pretty easy on most!
Same issue and wish I could… just got my 920+ and installed the latest without any previous version to downgrade to… is there a trusted source to pull down an older version? Cheers!
I’m using Ubuntu 20.04. I have located a deb package for a June 2021 version of Plex but would love to know how you downgrade without losing metadata and settings.
I had another idea which was to re-version that deb package so that it is slightly higher than the current release which I have done. I haven’t actually gotten around to installing yet but was going to give it a go on the weekend. But if there is a safe way to downgrade, I’ll definitely try that instead.
This may help people find an older version
Ill check that link, thanks. my server is on macOs
i hope they push an update soon
im always scared to update this damn app! one of the reasons why i havent purchased a plex pass.
This has been fixed. Plex for Alexa - #37 by vanstinator
Thanks for the link to the older versions! I downgraded for now and will probably update whenever i see it.
there’s a link to the .deb package for the last known working version in the popular links at the top of the page.
i am running debian 10 but the process is i believe identical…
cd /tmp (or wherever you like really)
dpkg -i ./plexmediaserver_1.23.3.4707-ebb5fe9f3_amd64.deb
this simply downgrades the version in the same manner as it would upgrade to a new version and no settings/db/metadata changes need take place.
now i’ve written that i have actually read the rest of the posts after yours and see it’s fixed anyway.
LOL
Being fixed is good, but when will the fixed be released and what version will the fixed variant sport?
It already is released that is why he linked to the release notes. Alexa skills are cloud based hosted at Amazon. Not part of the server install. Are you saying it is still not working for you? Possibly you need to reboot the Alexa device
not sure what you mean by that.
