Allow managed users to have access to shared content

Currently Managed Accounts cannot be granted access to view libraries that are shared to the Plex server owner (Home Admin) that provisions the Managed Accounts.

Given that Managed Accounts are designed to be ‘child’ accounts of the Home Admin, in that they have potentially restricted library access, non-admin rights and personalization capabilities, not being able to see selected libraries that are shared to the Home Admin account significantly limits their usefulness, vs having everyone in the household use a shared admin account (that comes with its own risks), and should be considered a design bug.

There is no additional risk or load burden to the sharer of the library in allowing because the sharer already assumes that everyone in the invited Plex user’s household can access their library.

The only current workaround is to create and add non-managed account(s) to Plex Home and ask the library owner to share the library to the additional account(s), which puts a burden on the library owner who should not need to be concerned with the local provisioning practices of the person they share the library to.

Note I am specifically NOT asking to enable the Home Admin to be able to re-share shared libraries to non-managed accounts. That is clearly not appropriate as those non-managed accounts could be in completely different households.

Hopefully there is a strong product manager on the Plex team who can drive this feature/fix because it creates a discontinuity in the Managed Account capabilities.

Tx!
