+1 Please, it’s my media, let me use it how I want, isn’t that the point of Plex?
I’ll be honest it never ever occurred to me that the devs would have chosen to NOT save the files where other players could get at them. It is rather disappointing and I would love to see an option to choose the sync location.
+1 From another Lifetime Plex Pass holder. Please allow us to select a sync folder (or use …/Android/media/com.plexapp.android/…). Then within that root sync folder, structure the synced files in the same way they are on the plex server.
- (another) 1. This is a very poor decision by the Plex Devs.
I’m suspecting that this is driven by commercial strategy rather than user experience, in which case Plex will be the poorer as most users when they understand this limitation will drop using Plex.
Or maybe I’m wrong and it’s just lazy programming :-0
Update: I just discovered that the Plex Windows app similarly uses some crazy location to store downloads, but this time it’s in a more useable format.
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Plex\Plex Media Server\Sync [a hidden folder] is where it stores everything which is where Microsoft thinks you should store user data (not where actual users can get to it)
So yes, my original comment stands, devs are just being lazy and using default option in the toolkits.
Come on, make this happen! If the Android app wasn’t working so poorly (especially with Android Auto), I wouldn’t need to use another app for playing my synced music!
Large yes from me. Like others would like to get an android DAP or use an OTG DAC for working environment but since plexamp can’t source match, using an app that can would be my other option…
I just wanted to easily download my songs from my media server so I can use them as ringtones / alarms on my phone. It seems a bit ridiculous that this app treats stuff I own like it needs DRM protected from me. 
Six years later after the original request and somehow this still isn’t a thing? Android sync function is abysmally slow and stops downloading when the screen goes dark (even when plugged in and background downloading is on). Its MUCH faster for me to manually move files to a flash drive or SD card even and then have Plex play off that… which would be great, except for some reason Plex stores its files on android behind root so I can’t do that even if I want to.
A problem that might be more exclusive to me is the fact that using an SD card reader or even a USB-C flash drive, Plex fails to read external storage even when the OS does.
What gives?
Still hoping this can become a feature in 2023.
Same reasons as as above; I’d like the downloaded files to be accessible from other apps, particularly audiobook players (which PlexAmp is not)
I’d really appreciate this function too.
I want to sync my music stored my a Plex (and sync’d to my phone) available to play on my Galaxy Watch (Wear OS).
It doesn’t seem that Plex has set Watch app versions as a priority, and I can’t argue the cost/user ratio. I just want my music accessible on my watch!!
