I load up a tablet for my toddler for road trips etc, and when she sees the characters, she loves to touch the screen which screws things up. I'd like to request a screen lock that can be set while playing. A good example of one is in MX Player for Android.
Considering that the player is the built-in Android one, I seriously doubt any feature requests can or will be implemented. If your bandwidth can take direct playing, you can switch the player to MX player. You lose the watched status tracking, but your kids will probably watch the entire thing anyways.

What do you mean the built-in Android one?
The Android app uses the built in video player that comes with Android. This is the one that us used by your camera's gallery to play videos you record. Plex can add some overlays to the GUI but the playback is all controlled by that built-in player.
