Any advantages to transcoding media with Plex before adding the media to NAS running Plex?

Hello everyone.
I’m new to Plex and NAS so please be gentle if I get any lingo or tech stuff wrong
I’m looking for a NAS to run Plex on mainly for me to remotely view when not at home and for family members but unfortunately my family members have slow broadband, 20mb max, and I don’t know if I’ll have a decent broadband connection or mobile data when not at home.
I watched a review of the Terramaster F2-423 on how well it handled 4K and in most case’s it was fine except that the CPU usage was high, I assume because it was transcoding on the fly but I might assume incorrectly, so I’m not sure if this is a daft question but would it help lower the CPU usage when streaming at home and remotely to transcode the media with Plex on my PC and then once finished add the media to the NAS running Plex?
My home broadband speeds are 1gig down and around 100mb if that information is any help at all.

Many thanks.

Pete

Have you checked the NAS compatibility spreadsheet? I used it when selecting a NAS to run Plex and it worked great. Read: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201373803-nas-compatibility-list/

Thank you for the advice.
I finished up going with the the Asustor AS6702 after all and got it today with 2 x 1TB m.2’s. I have 2 x 1TB SSD’s, 2 x 16GB of RAM and another 2 x 1TB m.2;s coming tomorrow so I can finish off the build. It’s a bit fiddly by the looks of it to fit one of the 2 RAM modules so I thought I’d get it all done in one go now I know how good the m.2’s are for the price.
Again thanks for the advice and I’m glad Plex has this forum as I’m sure I’ll be asking a few more questions.

I really love Plex. Mine always works and I do 2 things: I read the directions and I keep it simple. Enjoy!

Sound advance and thank you, The rest of the parts has just arrived so it’s gonna be a fun afternoon for me.
