5. In the channel of the Unsupported Appstore in plex: Install the plugin/channel for trakt
6. After setting up trakt (took me some time...don't know why anymore though <_< ) you can sync the uploaded ratings from trakt with your plex library...that takes some time...et voilá - all done!
I hope it helps...I did this a time ago and just wrote that from the top of my head...if I forgot something, just ask :D
Nice that it could help somebody...you are welcome :D
I wonder if there was a way to mark all of your rated imdb films as "watched" on plex? If you can import ratings, could you do this?
Well, that should be done automatically, too. Everything marked as seen on your trakt.tv account (previously imported from IMDB if needed via the instructions posted above) will be synced with the plugin. This includes the watched state as well as the ratings.
This is awesome, thank you. I was able to import just watch status and not ratings...
Why would I want to import my IMDB ratings? I'm confused about the rating system in Plex anyhow: I'm using a plugin that has all the ratings come from IMDB, but if I started rating a movie in Plex (or importing all my ratings), wouldn't that affect what rating I see in Plex? I still want to have them show and sort by IMDB rating - I don't want MY imdb rating to change any of that. Is there a distinction in Plex between the rating it shows and the rating you give it? Thanks.

Yes, Plex distinguishes between the metadata (e.g. from IMDB) and the personal ratings (yellow stars). So if you edit or import personal ratings it won't touch the metadata rating.
But since personal ratings are still not implemented very well, you have a valid point here. There is no option to sort by personal ratings. At least in my library it shows a zero star rating for every unwatched movie on some clients since it seems to prefer the personal ratings here. So in it's current state it's just a nice to have but has no further purpose.
Btw., if you into ratings and if you are using the web client often, Transmogrify may be very helpful. Besides the addidtional artist infos it also displays the IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes ratings for every entry. I love it :D
