Any way to scroll through the Actors list faster?

Howdy,

I went to my movie list and brought up the filter to view by actor. It brought up the list of actors in all my movies in alphabetical order. However, there doesn’t seem to be the individual letters down the side to quickly jump forward in the list. I had to sit and hold the down arrow for almost 4 minutes just to scroll through to who I was looking for.

Am I missing something or is there really no way to go letter by letter or page by page or anything other than having to scroll through every actor in the list?

Also, when I’m viewing a specific movie and it shows me who’s in it, there doesn’t seem to be a way to select that person’s name to quickly jump to all their movies which is what I originally wanted to accomplish. Can either of those things be done?

Thanks.

In your movies directory when you filter by actor - do not use the drop down. Just start typing in the actor’s name and the dropdown will only present those actors that fit the search (i.e. “Tom” gives me Hanks, Cruise, huddleson, hardy,).

In cast members left select the actors name and it will show you all the movies that actor is in. It will not mix Movies and TV shows. To see the tv stuff the actor is in you have to find a TV show with the actor and left select their name to see the tv shows

I guess I spaced out and forgot to state that I’m using this on an Amazon Fire TV Stick so I don’t have a keyboard. Maybe I can use the fire tv app or something. hmm.

According to https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201640960 you can load the fire app on your phone or tablet and use voice. Don’t know if the phone/tablet keyboard is available to the stick. The link does mention a onscreen keyboard but I don’t know if it will work with PLEX

Is there an official place to submit Feature Requests?> I found this thread where one person posted a picture of exactly what I was looking for but I don’t see that and neither does the person who started this thread:
https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1019575/#Comment_1019575

Feature Requests can only be submitted by Plex Pass holders. (I’ve been advocating opening it up to anyone) However, Plex is trying to make all the various apps look and feel the same. Perhaps @OttoKerner or @sa2000 know how to get a bug report to the developers to fix the missing search assist. Does the built in Fire Stick screen keyboard not work as advertised in my earlier link?

Nope. Just tried using the Fire TV APp to type and while it lets me type, nothing shows up on the screen.

I don’t know where the screenshot is from that I posted because that’s exactly how it should look. But it doesn’t look like that on the Fire TV or apparently the Roku.

Well, if anyone wants to submit this as a Bug or Feature Request or whatever, that’d be great. The actor list feature on the Fire TV is pretty much useless as it stands now.

So, 2 years later and still no action on this? I’m using the Roku players, and there seems to be no way to get through the filters lists of pretty much anything (actors, directors, studios, etc.) without slow-scrolling for several minutes. They already have the little scroll bar on the right - if they don’t want to use an A-Z letter bar like they have in other screens, why not at least let us get over to the scroll bar with the right-arrow and drag it up/down with the up and down arrows? All this great info trapped and unusable in its current form - seems a real shame.

Roku is great for this:
Hit FF/RW - it acts like ‘Page Down/Page Up’ (or ‘Page Over/Page Back’).

FireTV?
Naaa… nothing that sophisticated in the UI. Hold down the button and hope for the best. <—as I recall, holding down the button on my FireTV moves it pretty fast - almost too fast.

LOL - I just stumbled on the FF/RW thing for Roku after pushing all the buttons in frustration, and came back to update my post and then saw your reply. Yeah - that does help a lot, though something a little more obvious/intuitive would certainly seem to be helpful. If they’re trying to make all the interfaces look and act similarly, you’d think making them all have the A-Z scroll bar down the side in all the screens like this would make the most sense.

Indeed.

I’ve been trying to get a ‘Letter Stack’ in Collections too.
Doesn’t seem to be going anywhere…lol
