With that SDR TV, what the “TV Type” setting in Plex Settings set to? Is it set to “Auto”. “SDR”, or “HDR”? Can you please try setting to SDR if it’s not set already?
Do you have “Match Content➜Match Dynamic Range” turned on the Apple TV settings? If yes, can you please turn this Off on the SDR TV?
Plex setting TV Type was set to Auto. I changed it to SDR without any change. Still blown out on the whites.
Match content is already Off in Apple TV settings.
One TV is 1080p and the other is 4k both SDR having this blown out issue. 4K HDR TV displays it correctly because I’m assuming it’s getting the HDR feed and knows how to process it.
After further testing I am still seeing blowout w/ DV/HDR files like @zhazell. I’ve sent you a test clip that’s pretty revealing which has the following profile:
Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, Profile 8.1, dvhe.08.06, BL+RPU, HDR10 compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, Version HDR10, HDR10 compatible
Is this beta for the experimental player closed? I’m on the TestFlight of the non-experimental version and would love to be able to test the new player.
TV Series, Click on the highlighted episode poster, show commences without Audio. Yet if you click on the Play symbol, episode commences with Video and Audio as expected.
This seems to be a regression in the last Experimental Player release.
I haven’t been able to replicate this loss of audio on a TV episode regardless of clicking on the poster or play button.
Are you able to reproduce at will? Is it affecting all media? Or only ones with certain audio? ie I’m wondering if the audio tracks are TrueHD and there’s maybe a transcode issue at play?
Audio is AAC which are one of my go to codecs . I have very few True HD TV Series
For at will, not always. Will check out Transcode… That could be a possible
What is odd, it was not occurring on the previous Build of Experimental Player
Cheers
Update: After repeated attempts to play from poster it works. The affected video seems to be Letter box, old westerns (480 Vertical Lines) No Transcoding Direct PlayGunsmoke and Rifleman
I’m seeing the audio issue if I have matched content enabled. When enabled, audio is off. When disabled, audio is in sync. I’ve never seen or have this issue before until this beta. I know you’re working on releasing another update but wanted to put my experience here.
Yes. If I have match content on, and change the audio format to DD 5.1, audio is in sync. Obviously this disables 7.1 Atmos but hopefully helps point to the issue.
thanks for confirming. i’m also having the same issue and same results when switching audio formats. seems to be an issue with lpcm and frame match.
edit; apple tv connected to denon and denon to lg tv. audio is 256ms off when playing back anything at 24fps. attempted apple tvs audio sync and no change. i’ve also set the default system resolution and fps which seems to save the audio sync calibration settings separately but still no change.
Just updated from the plex beta to the player beta. none of my files are playing, it always stucks and then skips to the plex home Screen. already did a reinstall, but still same problem. anyone?
Just spitballing, but can you try remuxing one of those old files into an MKV? See if the issue is still present? Does the filename in question end in .m4v or .mp4?
Do you have other, working files, that were created with WinXDVD?
If Mac based, you could also try remuxing to a new MP4 file with something like Subler.
@dasbacon, on the Denon, do you have “Auto Lip Sync” enabled in the Denon audio delay options? If yes, can you try turning this off and seeing if that helps with the delay? I had to disable this and manually set an offset of 100ms on the Denon (that’s the basic sync offset for my room, and it affects all apps, not just Plex) and I’ve seen much better sync performance in both Plex and Infuse.
lip sync is off. i’ve been reading posts about lg’s real cinema causing this sync issue when apple tv’s match frame rate is also turned on. i would like to try disabling real cinema, but its on by default with my isf picture settings. will continue testing today with another profile setting.
edit; disabling real cinema was possible if i turned the tv on before the apple tv, however with only apple tv frame marching on the delay was still 256ms
