Hard to believe this is an eight year old thread… I would also like to see this fixed. I think Spotify handles this pretty well. When you visit an Artist’s page, you see their Albums listed in the Discography, then a section called “Appears On” with a list of all the compilations or or other albums the artist appears on.
Early 2021 clean-up:
- search is reflecting both track and album artist when looking for tracks → implemented
- show tracks from mixed-artist albums in artist overview → duplicate
