I think part of the deliberate 2-click via popup menu to “Show Lyrics” is related to licensing fees being involved every time lyrics are pulled from the Lyric Find service. It’s the same reason “Show Lyrics” mode is not maintained between tracks when Lyric Find is involved.
But I do like your idea of a mode where tapping on the artwork cycles between three states (album art, visualizer, lyrics) instead of just between artwork and the visualizer. Maybe a new setting that allows this new 3-state mode with the default being set as the current 2-state mode.
I did however get a laugh out of your choice of a song lyrics example screenshot.
Well, if this is licencing and they don’t want us to use it or to use it as less ad possible they should hide it competly or give only access to local lyrics.
It doesn’t make sense for users to have this kind of answer…
It would be so much easier to have to tap the artwork.
Plus it would free a spot in the menu, maybe it could be use to acces directly to the equalizer ?
As for the screenshot, yes I find it funny, everybody should have to laugh at least once a day
I’m just a Plex user and for the lowly price of a lifetime PlexPass membership back in September 2020, the Plexamp development team has added so much amazing new function since that time. All we can do as users is provide them with good ideas and let them prioritize and decide what gets added. Your idea is a good one and you’ll just have to see if they implement it sometime based on their internal development plans. The fact that they currently provide quite a simple interface to toggle lyrics is great (debates about an extra click here or there can be resolved as they see fit). I’ve suggested a handful of enhancements which they have implemented. They may have been in the works already, but that is besides the point. Music is a passion of mine and their player is a joy to use everyday and I can’t believe I only paid such a minimal lifetime usage fee. My usage is strictly for a privately owned music library. (~1000 ripped albums).
