Associate Music Playlist to new Library

I have more than 500GB of music. I have 3 external drive that are in sync with my music collection, one as master and the other 2 as back up. The one that was connected to my Plex Music Library have problem so I created a new Music Library and I identify as 2 to differentiate from the original and connect to one of the drive I use as back up. I scan, analyze, Sonic Analysis the new Music Library 2 and when it finish and make sure that everything was Ok, I delete the original Music Library and I change the name of my new Music Library 2 to the original name.

Now all my playlist are empty and I would like to know if there is a way to reestablish the connection to the new Music library or do I have to recreate all my playlist.

Server Version#: Windows v.1.40.1.8120-6dc7f7fd8
Player Version#: Plexamp

  1. Shut down Plex server
  2. Revert to a database backup from before the drive switch over: https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/
  3. swap the drive letters of the original drive with that of the backup drive in the Windows control panel Change a drive letter | Microsoft Learn
  4. verify that all the folder names on the backup drive are identical to the origianl drive. If not, make them so.
  5. start Plex server

Due to points 3 and 4, Plex shouldn’t even notice that something has changed.
The whole approach will probably only work if there weren’t other Plex libraries on the same drive(s).

The alternative to the above would be to change the drive letters and folder names directly in the server database, which is something only someone well versed in SQL should even attempt. [HowTo] Plex database modification - Moving media the right/wrong way - #10 by jelwell

Thanks Otto and sorry for the delay in replay, to much work. I have other data in the drive so changing the letter drive is not an option. Because I don’t have a lot of playlist for me it was easy to recreated them. I have 2 extra hard drive as backups with all my media so it would be nice to be able to relink media by only changing the folder path to a new drive.
