Assume Resume

It takes 3 clicks to start watching an item in the ‘Continue watching’ list (LG Web OS).

I know I sound lazy, but it makes more sense to resume by default. At least a setting to assume resume where playback stopped last time, instead of opening show or movie page then click play then prompt to resume our start from beginning.

Setting options could be: Resume, Play from beginning, Prompt, Open Item Page

In the Roku App we once had two play buttons:
Resume (only if partially watched) and Play from Beginning.

One day they toddled off into the woods and the wolf got 'em.

Now, it seems, the question and answer period must be satisfied to get anything done.

Thanks Wolf.
Hope you’re happy.

erm I think the continue watching hub, resumes by default?

maybe something specific to the lg client?

edit

plex web pops up the continue/from start dialog
ios-mobile > tap continue watching > goes to pre-play > resumes play

didn’t check androidtv

“resume” is the pre-selected choice, but you still need to confirm. Sounds like the OP is hitting select/ok which will bring up the preplay page. You can skip this step by pressing the physical “play” button on the remote instead. This will bring up the resume/start from beginning option, but resume is preselected, so you hit select/ok here.

Remote does not have a play button. Using pointer cursor or arrows to select item, on either you can only use select button, which takes you to ‘Preplay page’ first.

If I remember correctly AN-MR600 LG Mighty Remote from 2014 -2015 came with some LG Smart model Tv’s. If your just activate the scroll/ slight movement, it will highlight the TV controls and Cursor.

If you areusing this remote you must be on WebOS 2 or WebOS 1.4, which version of the LG app are you using?

Only after I posted, I saw that I have a newer one than shown. Think 2016 / 2017.
Running webOS 3.3.0
Plex for LG 4.29.4

As mentioned, both selection methods behave the same.

Ah, that’s the LG magic remote. LG stupidly didn’t include dedicated media buttons on that remote so it’s going to take extra buttons no matter what.

I don’t have this remote but from what I’ve read, if you press the button to the left of the 0 while the cursor is over the poster, that should bring up other options with Play being one of them. It’s still going to be 3 clicks, but you won’t have to wait for the preplay page to appear.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t work either :frowning:
