Audio drop outs

Hi all, first post here.

I have been running PMS on Raspbian for a few months now with no problems. I just use it for playing music on one iPhone. The Pi has 3 external USB drives attached, one has the music on it, the others share photos, documents, video etc on the home network.

For the past week or so I have been experiencing audio drop outs during playback, usually for a second or so, occurring quite regularly, although it can sometimes play for 60-90 seconds before the drop outs start. They are drop outs rather than buffering - it is as if the music had continued playing muted for a second or so, rather than stopping and starting if that makes sense. It happens both playing from iPhone over 4G or over wireless on the home network.

Last week I did an apt-get upgrade on the Pi which updated a lot of packages and also installed the latest PMS version. This is now the only thing I can think of which is causing it. I have tried various other things to isolate the problem including: playing music from a different USB drive and connecting the Pi via wireless instead of wired ethernet.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is it possible to roll back an apt-get upgrade or at least roll back the PMS version?

thanks

Please test another player, e.g. the web client. Most likely, it’s not a server issue.

Just tried using web client and good shout - no drop outs. So tried uninstalling iPhone app and reinstalling… and so far no drop outs. Maybe it was an issue with iPhone cache. Sometimes it is the simplest things you don’t think to do. I’ll see how it goes but that might be it sorted. Thanks a lot!
