Audio Filter Option to Mute Specific Phrases (e.g., “Oh my God”)

Hi Plex Team,

I’d like to suggest adding an audio filtering feature that allows users to automatically mute or skip specific phrases or words during playback — similar to what filtering services like VidAngel or ClearPlay offer.

For example, I’d like the option to mute or skip over blasphemous phrases like “Oh my God”, while leaving the rest of the movie untouched. This would be a valuable feature for users with religious or personal sensitivities who still want to enjoy content through Plex without manually editing or pre-processing the files.

The ideal functionality would be:

A user-defined list of words/phrases to filter

A toggle to mute audio or skip a few seconds

Optional subtitle filtering as well

This would make Plex even more family- and faith-friendly, and give more control to users over how they consume content.

Profanity Filter

I was wondering if there will ever be an option to filter profanity and scenes for instance integrate a service such as “ClearPlay” where the file is downloaded and it will automatically cut the audio and/or video as necessary based on your settings? This would be a most useful feature for those with children, and religious families to enjoy digital content without the language or scenes with nudity or excessive violence.
