I would like to request a sort of wizard or guide you could run on your player and it would play a test file with each audio and video codec that is supported by the installed player to validate your setup supports those. This should be stored at the client and then any codecs you mark as not functioning would get flagged with a warning to let you know that a particular video or audio file isn’t going to play on the player you’re using. This sort of guided setup would make for a better experience because it lowers the barrier to entry for a lot of users who do not understand the challenges around codecs and compatibility.
