Audiobooks - support for a 'Resume' feature?

@teacher24_70 The resume setting is available for all Plex users and is an Advanced setting of “Music” type libraries:

I tried M4Bs first as well, since these are preferred by iTunes, but for me Plex didn’t pick these files up in a “Music” library, only in Video libraries. I found they resumed in Plex clients except Samsung TV, but covers were not displayed.

It’s for reasons such as these that I went for MP3 format and “Music” libraries instead, until the type I described above is created. That should ideally be able to display covers and accept multiple typical audiobook file formats, treating all the same way.

Still?

5 years now. What is going on here?

They’re a bit like albums,
They’re more like Albums, inside Albums. My audiobooks are organized as Author\Series\Book\Tracks

The Series and Book directories can both be seen as Albums, I’m sure this throws a wrench into writing a new library type. And this is just a simple example.

yet another request to add resume feature to audiobook, also, seems to only display books by author… do I get a choice if i want to see by book title? I would hate to just make a video library and convert them all to videos just to have a couple simple features like resume…

No it’s not. You said that 2 months ago, and still nothing. And that’s after years of asking for it.

Commenting on here, because having this feature would be great…

I have to take a screen shot of where I am in a book so I may ff to that point. Having Audiobook features would be awesome!!!

Why is official Audiobook support is taking such a long time? I really wonder.

If you modify the way TV Show Libraries work to handle just audio, you basically have all the features requested for audiobooks. Remember position, Mark as “watched”, collections, and you can have on deck the book you are listening to.

I use the audio library for audiobooks now with the audiobook metadata, this is the best way for now.
But I also tried renaming my audiobooks to .mp4 and added them to a tv library and the workflow makes a lot more sense, the only downsides where; black screen, because its only audio (obviously), and that they mix with my actual tv shows in recently added.

I agree, it seems crazy that a working audiobook library has not
be implemented. It’s frustrating being a PlexPass lifer and
seeing so many other paying plexpass customers as for this but it
gets nowhere.

Thanks for your tv library workaround. I’m going to try that.
Sounds like it will work better than my current setup using a
music library (the remember position is constantly loss is which
is frustrating).

One tip: there is an option in TV libraries for not showing on
the dashboard. That should keep the audiobooks from mixing with
TV shows.

Since the plex team has not addressed this request in almost six years, I’m guessing it’s not going to happen. I use plex on a multitude of platforms and would love better audiobook support. Giving up on plex. If google would just add the ability to upload files (like book pdf files), google books would be perfect.

Its never too late

Since posting us almost a year ago I discovered Pocket Casts. A great app that has everything I need and more. Totally forgot about Plex with podcast.
