Does anyone know how I can automated a sync of a a tv show to my phone?
Example: New episode of a show is added to the server, server then syncs it to my phone without any manual intervention.
I would like to catch up with the sunday night tv shows while I am travelling to work on monday morning but to do this manually would mean I would have to start the sync a few hours before I leave because I transcode to a lower quality so save on storage space on my phone.
Seems like a feature that would really enrich the current sync process no?
Isn’t this all ready possible? I know I do this on my iPad. For example I sync a few I unwatched episodes for when I’m bored or traveling.
Select a series or season and select the sync button. Set sync unwatched only and set a limit if you want. I have usually 5 series a season as I watch a few series in between documentaries so should be fine.
Yes but I want to pre-configure this to happen automatically (not press the sync button) on certain shows.
Here is a use case.
The walking dead, Star trek and Fear the walking dead find their way onto my server during sunday night. As they get added (which is automatic in my system) i want them to sync, while I am still asleep.
When i roll out of bed on Monday morning, i want it all to be there, ready and waiting on my phone without me having to press any buttons (because it takes so long to transcode and sync)
Once the shows have been set to sync this is exactly what happens. Once I’ve added a show I’ve never had to touch it again. Just make sure you set a limit if your doing this with a lot.
I found this out the hard way when I accidentally clicked “mark as unwatched” on ncis >_>

Been playing around with this and im trying to do the same thing as op, but I notice that although episodes are all set to sync my iPad even though its powered on and plex running in the background… if I never wake up the device at all until I get on the train the next morning nothing will sync. Any one else experience this? Even tho background app refresh is on it’s not starting up the sync process while iPad screen is off, if it could work as I described then the process would truly be autonomous
I don’t have an ipad but i wonder if it is asleep and not open to external connections ? what happens if you leave it plugged in and charging over night?
It sounds like you need to find a away to keep it awake while you are asleep.
