I was introduced to podcasts via a great app on Android called “Podcast Addict.” My favorite features of this app are that:
Podcasts you subscribe to can automatically download episodes and
Downloaded podcasts are automatically added to a playlist.
I love that I have easy access to my podcasts via the Plex interface on my desktop and would love to have integration between podcasts on my phone and my desktop via Plex, but without those features, it’s difficult for me to justify it considering I don’t have unlimited data and don’t want to sync episodes one by one. If you could do this via the Plex App this would be great for me and I’m sure a lot of others could use it too.
On your phone:
If you go to the preplay screen of the whole podcast (and not just one episode), you can sync a whole podcast (or reduce it to the last / next 1, 3 or 5 episdes).
You can also let Plex automatically remove already played episodes.
If you switch the Plex app into ‘Offline Browsing’ mode (tap on your user avatar in the upper, right corner), it will only show you media which were previously synced/downloaded to the phone.
Yes. Please explore the Sync dialog. You can define how many of the latest episodes it shall download and what shall happen with ‘played’ episodes.
It is similar to syncing tv shows. You can sync a whole show, but restrict it to ‘unplayed’ episodes (and e.g. only 5 of them).
This then causes new episodes to get downloaded and older ones to get removed as you watch them.
The sync “job” doesn’t need manual intervention until the last episode has been synced and watched.
