I have multiple xbox ones, multiple ps4s … basically, multiples of everything. I’m noticing that when I go back and fourth between my xbox ones it’s forcing me to re-pair the console. This doesn’t happen on any device where I log in, only the ones where the device authorization needs to happen on the back end.
My DNS servers are already set to 8.8.8.8 and 75.75.75.75. I was originally running into a similar issue with Amazon, it took them 3 months to figure out that it was basically another device being logged on that had the same device id and it was causing a conflict and things were getting logged out. Not sure if that is what is happening here but some help would be appreciated; don’t want to have to visit plex.tv with a code every time I want to use plex from my consoles.
yeah, we own more than one, they are in various rooms; so the same user may go from one room to another, so they will end up logging out of one console and logging into another. While I can see this causing an issue, is there a work around or a fix in the works?
yup, but as I said, I own more than one. I can’t go to a different console and log in to that console without the other console logging you out automatically.
So, ‘not’ logging out isn’t actually a solution, it’s a work around for people that only own a single console. However, people whom own more than one console can’t use this method.
I have more than one console & device and have never automatically been logged out. I feel like you need to check your profile settings for how many concurrent streams you can have or something else around that area.
Hi, I feel like you’re not understanding what I’m saying.
I feel like what you are hearing is that I have a single xbox one and a single playstation 4 and when I reference multiple consoles, you’re probably thinking I’m jumping from my PlayStation 4 to my Xbox one. This isn’t what is happening. I am going from one xbox one to another xbox one. So I have an xbox one in my living room and an xbox ones in the bedrooms. So someone can be in the living room using an xbox then they can go to one of the rooms (for the night or whatever) whcih means when they log into the xbox one in the bedroom they get auto logged out on whatever other console they were on (no matter where it is in the world, the only way you can log them both in at the same time is if you’ve either A. hacked your console which is a violation of the ToS for both networks or B. you’re offline).
If you are in a position where you can log into more than 1 xbox one or more than one playstation 4 at a time, please share. If this is what you are saying, please share how you are doing this. The only way I can accomplish this task, as stated before, is to either hack my console or take it offline. They boot you to prevent you from sharing your profile to others so everyone has to have their own profile so you have to buy the games you want to play.
So I appreciate the help but what you are saying doesn’t apply to my situation.
The device doesn’t matter. There’s account where 5 ppl are on chrome or where 2 ppl on an account is both on ps4. Should be no difference on Xbox. I know what you’re saying and I’m saying it is that it shouldn’t matter. U could have 5 xboxs and everyone should be fine with their own concurrent streams.
Like I said, check settings in your account.
My problem isn’t concurrent streams, my problem is that the xbox app (I haven’t tested this on the ps4) is requiring me to enter the code too often on the same user account. You said it’s probably due to me logging out. I said okay, it might be but I don’t have a choice to log in our out, it happens automatically when I go to another xbox one.
I had this exact same problem with amazon prime. After 3 months of amazon poking through their code they figured out it is because they aren’t expecting home owners to have more than one of a certain type of console and as a result the device id’s being generated weren’t unique enough for a user to switch between consoles that are of the same make/model and within the same home. They have since fixed this, I no longer have the issue with amazon prime.
I don’t see Plex having that problem because Plex was built on the idea of sharing and multi-users etc. Once the device in on your account as an authorized device, it shouldn’t ask you for a code again unless you remove the device. So check your authorized devices possibly. Maybe remove them all and re-add them (may be a bug or cache problem). I mean apart from that, I’m not really sure what else we could look at here. Test it out with two browsers, if that works, then that means you narrowed it down to being an Xbox problem, not a Plex problem.
I’m thinking it’s a bug, which is why I’m here. There’s actually quite a few people reporting the exact same issue I am. As far as what side it is on, it would be on the plex side, not the xbox side.
I’ve cleared out all the authorized devices, I see my xboxes in here over and over and over and over again; I just cleared out at least 20 of each of my xboxes (from having to re-login each time) (from only having Plex installed for about 3 weeks).
So it looks like each time you log out and log back in (just by jumping from one console to another), plex requires you to re-acquire authorization.
I checked the authorized devices, I just cleared them all out, the same device was in there probably 20 times. We will see what clearing this out does
Clearing out the codes did not help; my wife told me today it’s happening to her even when she didn’t log out. She just turned off the console, turns it back on, and it’s asking for a code again.
Would it make it easier if I recorded this process?
It’s this simple, grab 2 xbox ones (or 2 ps4s); let’s call them one and two (respectively).
Log into the one, log into plex, it forces you to visit plex.tv to register itself for your usage under that console.
Now log into two under the same account you just used under one, log into plex, it forces you to visit plex.tv to register itself for your usage under that console.
Now log into one, you’ll notice you still have to visit plex.tv to register itself for your usage under that console. You have to walk through all the configurations and everything every time you swap between 2 different consoles of the same make and model.
Thanks for the report. Can I ask if it’s only ever happening when you’re logging onto another XB1/PS4? Or do you only only consistently see this when doing the steps you’ve described? And are they exactly the same models? (ie two Xbox One S’s etc).
When we shut down ‘one’ to move to ‘two’, we don’t log out, we simply shut the console off. So when we log into ‘two’; we’re logged into ‘one’ in an off state. But when we resume our consoles, we’re always asked to pick a profile to log into; so whether or not the actual process of logging out does anything, I’m not sure, but we are asked to enter the code every time we do this. Amazon prime initially did this too; took them 3 months to figure it out! I looked for this email to see what they said was the actual problem but I can’t seem to find it but I will keep looking.
They are the exact same make model; so xbox one (not s or x) then ps4 pro.
Let me know what else I can get you to help figure it out. AND THANK YOU!!!
So we tried to circumvent the issue by using 2 different accounts (so one account could maybe stay authorized on one device and another account on another device), this didn’t help. We have been asked to validate the code 2 times on one console and once on the other even though different accounts.
