Better offline experience in my car

Situation:
Driving, using Android Auto to connect with your carscreen and steeringwheel buttons.
Plexamp can download album for album or a few hours random playlist to play offline.
Somehow it’s not completely offline. It seems to search for plexserver for info and starrating.

Q1: How much data is plexamp using when it’s connecting to the database of plex serveral times a day?

Q2: AA is showing a single star and pushing does rate 5 stars after 26-35 sec delay.( delay is lack of connection plex library?)
App is reacting imidiately. Somehow the carscreen has only a delay.

Proposal is.
Would it be possible to get 12345 parts of rating? (now i need to open the app wile driving.)
And a option of “only refresh and sync on wifi” so the app is buffering your changes until your home or on wifi.
And a manual button to provoke sync if you need to on celluair 4g mobile.

Why? I use my time in the car to pick the wrong , bad and good and very good in my library so i can clean up doubles and obsolete mp3 files.

I think Android Auto limits what can be done (for safety) so this is not possible.

That could be possible but the 20-30-40 sec delay after pres star is something else.
i try to film it so you can see. don’t know why that is happening. only thing i can think of is it tries to connect with “homebase” library…

when i used musicolet it’s layout was the same button wise but much more responsive.
i activated acces on internet (outside my wifi) just to see if the delay is gone.

Edit: Indeed online active does give the respons a boost.

The . . . Does stil nothing so i think your right it is prohibited by AA.

Yes, if there is internet we currently wait for the server to :+1: or :-1: the rating change before sending the update back to the Car UI. If the internet is flakey this may take some time.

I’ve just made a change which should mean the UI is updated immediately and the server will be updated with the new rating when possible.

This change will probably be in a coming update

Great.

Ive drove some time now with plexamp active.
Sometimes is quite responsive and sometimes is in my phonescreen rated to 5stars after a tap on cardisplay wile carscreen stil is waiting to update.
My methode is now i have Flitsmeister active which keeps my phone open and active so i can switch between plexamp en FM to rate less then 5 stars.( the phone in a holder high on the cardesk so minimum amount time of eye’s of the road and i only touch my phone in situations i have time orherwise i just hit pauze or just leave it be. Safety first)
Car displays google maps or plexamp.
Carctouchscreen 5 stars or crossed star for delete out library as in not good enough to keep. 2 stars for hmm not very interesting
3 for middle of the road. Baseline music. 4 for good but not outstanding.
This way i can cleanup my library and have the same ratings at home on other devices
Of the songs i downloaded.
After a wile songs are repeated with rating so then i can just listen.
All and all very happy with this app.
And the update does help minimise distraction time.

5 star ratings for the car UI isn’t really feasible.

Musicolet app did the same so i think it’s blocked by Android Auto
Only thing info of the song did show on musicolet app but not on plex.
The 3 dots button i mean.

Doesn’t matter much now i know i use my phone screen if i need to know. Or adjust rating lower then max 5.

Respons of car ui ofline is a improvement

update:
i am pleased with the present status of usability of plexamp.
i am using it every day. (connected/on-line but i download mp3 on the phonememory.)
And i installed the app also on my daughters phone using the master inlog and switching to hers.
i think she likes it. (She is always listing music on youtube so i tell her i have a large library of real music. enjoy!)

So i am exploring all other possible ways now. plex series and movies. photo’s
yep i am sucked in by PLEX.
