Bug: CORS error on htpc-player on linux

You got it. It’s on the schedule.

Please also remove it from any other player/app.

That is a really stupid idea. This will ensure that you won’t be able to use Plex at all when the Internet has an outage at your home.

Then why remove it from the plex-htpc player and not fix it instead?

Makes no sense in my eyes.

You requested it to be removed.

It will only be removed from the Linux version of Plex HTPC, right? The Windows version will still have it?

Dont put words in my mouth.
I requested to fix it.
Thats why i reported that bug…

But in this whole discussion i have only read, “bah, we dont want to repair it, use the account, its much better…”

Make it work like its expected to work and everything is fine.

I said there are 2 possible solutions/outcomes how to deal with it.

  • Remove it
  • Fix it

You guys decided to remove it.

I never requested to remove it
I want that you fix it and make it work.

Now is the feature useful when on Windows and the whole discussion about account stuff above irrelevant?

Haven’t you written that the “feature” works on Windows?

Correct.

As i pointed at the possible outcomes in Bug: CORS error on htpc-player on linux - #21 by marc_s18 and @gbooker02 reacted in Bug: CORS error on htpc-player on linux - #21 by marc_s18 i was assuming they remove it for all versions/OS based on the discussion above about security & account stuff. As i understand it this feature shouldnt even be used.

Except it’s not fine. You said you don’t care about security and your responses are quite evident of that by attempting to dismiss it as off-topic and unimportant but it’s at the heart of the issue here. The settings involve here are nothing less than foot-guns and only present for legacy reasons. If we have a case where it doesn’t work, there is no legacy reason for it to exist and thus should be removed.
