Bug: External subtitles not picked up in plex if added after movie is imported

Thanks. That’s it then. Linux default max is 8192. After that, it won’t auto detect unless you increase the kernel’s table.

Below is how.

I’m still testing on the subtitle thing. I’m not sure if that’s part of how it should work.
I know the directory is triggered. I’m not certain if a subtitle warrants PMS rescanning. I will ask

If the media is local to the host (key point here), it is detected.
Notify is only within the confines of the local kernel mount points. Network shares are under the control of another kernel.

It may not show on Plex/web until the page is refreshed

I just confirmed it instantly found or removed it. (media is on the QNAP - where PMS is running)

Hi, Thanks

I’ve already adjusted the kernal limit max_user_watches to 32768 as per your previous instruction.

The media is local host.
Video files are detected instantly when created
External subtitle files are not detected

I see that you couldn’t re-create my issue on your system.

As a test can you create a dummy file
/movies/Knives Out (2019)/Knives Out (2019) - [DVDSCR][AC3[XVID]-CM8.avi

Then wait for it to be added to plex.

Then create a second dummy file:
/movies/Knives Out (2019)/Knives Out (2019) - [DVDSCR][AC3[XVID]-CM8.en.sr

and see if subtitles are added?

sorry i think my issue might relate to local media assets not being ticked. I thought that option was for reading local metadata not for ignoring external subtitle files.

I’m sorry for not doublechecking earlier.

LMA picks up all local assets of which external (side-car) subtitles count as.

Yea I’m sorry about that.
